MK7 TDI GT 2.0 2013
So I have a MK7 GT TDI 2013, I had it serviced about a month ago and about a week after I went on a long journey about 75 miles into the journey I noticed the heating was cold, I pulled over I checked coolant and it was very low, I topped this up (I didn't check before I went on this journey as I just assumed all well) over the weekend the coolant was ok, it didn't drop or anything at all and hasn't at all since.
Even after topping coolant up it still was cold and has been since, I left the car overnight and next day didn't see any leaks or any drop at all, I ran the car with the coolant top off to see if it would release any air locks, I did this a few times with and without the cap off to no luck.
I ended up calling the garage who did my service if there was anything wrong with the coolant when I went, they said they checked and it was fine and they didn't need to top it up or change anything to it (I believe they didn't look).
So what happens is I can warm car up if I turn heaters off while its warming up then turn on I get about 30 seconds or so of hot air then it goes back the most mildest lukewarm (not warm enough to even keep on driver), the engine is getting warm as it should I've not noticed any delay in gauge taking for ever to go up or even drop down, my dash shows oil temp going up as should.
I took it to another garage (well trusted) of which they checked all pipes (I'm not that great with cars but I think it was pipes that link to coolant expecting one to be cold but they were all hot as they should be) anyway they said possibly the heater core may need flushing and that will work, they did it and gave it me back saying it worked, (in fairness when I collected it the heaters were lukewarm but when I drove down the road and later on it went cold again) they checked for leaks also and there's no leaks found. I called them back and they said it maybe the thermostat is faulty but they cannot guarantee this will fix the issue, so I took back yesterday and had this replaced, they called and said its still not worked as we hoped it would, they didn't charge me for labour as they said they're not happy with the job so will only charge for the part which was fair. they suggested I called a local VW specialist and see what they have to say and if they have had it before.
They mentioned they also have another customer with the same issue except they have an Audi but same engine as mine and same exact symptoms, who also has been suggested to go to a specialist as they have had their matrix replaced, pipes changed, heater core flushed, thermostat changed and nothing but they are still currently waiting for them to see the car, the mechanic I went to wants to me to call the specialists and let him know what actually is wrong as he is stumped as to where to go next on the car.
I asked if the matrix was all ok and he said yes and there's no electrical faults as he would've seen them show on his equipment.
I also noticed on long journeys if I keep turning them of and off to get some warm air after a few times it just doesn't get warm even after turning off for a while like it usually does.
When I switch heating from hot to cold I can hear it switch over that all works fine, good air flow through the vents.

SO IN SUMMARY :
Heaters give 30 seconds roughly of warm air when heaters are turned off then turned on.
No leaks found.
Flushed heater core.
Changed thermostat.
All pipes hot as should.
Gauges going up as they should.
Cold air working as should (and AC)

might be the Blend door/blend door actuator? Do you hear any sort of clicking/tapping noise coming from under the dash? that's my only thought if the thermostat was already replaced.

As above could be this known problem which affects all VAG cars...

When you say you had it serviced, what was serviced? Sounds almost like you have an air pocket in the cooling system because it was not filled correctly (you can't just pour coolant in. There is a process to prevent air pockets.) Did you have cooling system serviced at all?

As long as the coolant reservoir wasn't completely empty you can just add coolant without getting air into the system.
