I'd be more tentative buying a demo than a car transferred from another dealer. I don't abide by break in rules personally, but demos are a whole other level of abused.
Come on man....the super high tech manual trans wasn't just introduced all new for 2021, lol. The old man probably grew up driving a Model T! I'm 99.99999% sure they made sure they picked/lined up the driver that could drive a manual trans, and this isn't their first rodeo dealer trading.Interesting that you mention that, as the Dealer said the same for their driver guy. And I'd feel more confident that he'd know how to drive a manual transmission.
the local dealers around me were/are not good. So I bought my car from a dealer 150 miles away. Delt with them directly so they had the car ready to go and we took the train and made a little adventure out of it. Dealer picked us up from the train station, signed the paperwork and we were on our way. I took the scenic route home so got some highway and back road driving to help with break in. Had low double digit mileage at the dealer.
Maybe OP could do something like this?
Every new sporty car I've bought the salesperson has tried to push me to "give her a little more" on the test drive. Most of these cars have been less than 150 miles on the odo and I doubt others haven't taken up the sales person on the offer...
I'd be more concerned about the first 100 miles on it than the 200 mile cruise. There's really not even a need to "break in the engine" these days. The built in computers won't let you do terribly stupid things and if a true break in is required, the ecu will prevent dumb things. It's a vw, not a c8 vette or a mclaren. Just drive it.

So your local dealer already traded for it, and you're just waiting to take delivery of it?You and I think the same and I've had the same experience as you at Dealerships that urge me to let 'er rip. I won't do it and hardly need to. I could tell the GTI had plenty enough power to make me happy.
"My" GTI had just been delivered to the distant Dealership, so I doubt it had many test drives if any before its 200 mile run. I'm planning to take a look at it tomorrow ....

Does that mean that you're definitely buying it?That's right -- they had a Corn Flower Blue SE DSG and the distant Dealer had a Corn Flower Blue SE 6-Speed. They each wanted what the other had, so the transfer took place quickly and the 6-Speed awaits my visit.
