Random Cayman S was itching for the green light so I decided to catch up and see if they would do a pull, floored it around 40mph when I saw them give it the gas and was side-by-side until I let off once I saw all the cones and thought I was going to have to merge, they passed me right after (gps speed is slow to update). A minute later when turning right they gave a thumbs up and we waved at each other nicely :)

Was pleasantly surprised since I was expecting them to smoke me lol.

Speak of the devil I ran a beautiful white Cayman two days ago it was a 2014.

They are like 330whp, 3000 lbs but the gearing is so phenomenal he was right on my ass going into fifth. And I was around 400hp at the time

Seems disappointing. You should have won by more, no? Those older Cayman S cars are not very fast. A stage 2 MK7 GTI traps 110mph and those caymans are a bit slower, unless he was modded?

I'm not sure what year it was but Caymans are considerably lighter, especially compared to my 4 door w/ the sunroof. And like Twist said they're around 330 whp (Porsche claims 330 crank but it's most likely underrated like our cars, bmw's, etc).

Plus my tune is somewhat conservative while I'm still on the stock clutch.

Last gen 6cyl Cayman S trap like 112-114. Newer ones with the turbo 4 are faster though

Power depends on the year.

road and track got 13.3 @ 106 out of the 987 Cayman S in 2006. 295 hp.

2012s got a bigger motor but were still 13 second cars. 320 hp

Looks like mid 12's at 112 to me. I guess it depends what year he was racing

You sure thats a 987 S? They were rated 320 HP in 2012. The R was 330. There were no 987s with 325.

The base engine is a 265-hp, 2.9-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder. The 3.4-liter six-cylinder in the Cayman S generates 320 hp and 330 hp in the Cayman R. Both engines are available with a manual or PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. Mechanical features include:

That was from the 981. That was the generation that started in 2012 through 2015. It was just 5hp more than the 987. So the 987 was probably still solidly in the 12's at 110+. The new one uses the turbo 4 which is even quicker. Not sure what generation he ran in the video though

First model year for 981 production was 2014, at least in the us.

He ran a 987 (06-12), probably an earlier one based on the lobster claws and the fact that they made almost no 2012 cars (99% of them were 2006-2011). The 06-11 were 13.3 @106.

From the porsche forums:

Cayman S production numbers...
2006 - 5,651 (5,367 USA / 284 Canada)
2007 - 3,444 (3,361 USA / 83 Canada)
2008 - 2,562 (2,418 USA / 144 Canada)
2009 - 792 (725 USA / 67 Canada)
2010 - 614 (543 USA / 71 Canada)
2011 - 539 (506 USA / 33 Canada)
2012 - 149 (125 USA / 24 Canada)
