GTI Suspension

I have a new GTI MK7 with 18" wheels. Car handles fine except when I encounter pavement irregularities, for example the ridge between a bridge and pavement. These irregularities cause the suspension to apparently bottom out with a 'bang'. Any ideas what could be causing this? Is it normal behavior? If so, how is it addressed?

If the PDI is completed fully and correctly then take it in under a warranty inspection, if not there are some transporter blocks that are sometimes left intact, even when the blocks are removed, it can push somedamping rubbers up too high which results in a noise when turning at low speed.

how is this happening so much on MK7s? (dealerships forgetting to remove the blocks)

I just jacked up the car. All three pucks were still in place. You have to look under the shock billows. You really need to check this out - it is dangerous to drive the car with these blocks in. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out.

Out of curiosity I just jacked up my GTI to check. I wasn't 100% on what was acceptable ride quality given the big wheels and stiffened suspension. Thankfully there are no delivery blocks there so expect a little bumpiness over speed bumps and such but definitely take notice if it's stupidly uncomfortable or banging as the earlier post mentioned.

One less thing to worry about at least!
