GTI engine swap

I ruined the engine in my 2016 6 spd. GTI (spun thrust brg.). I have a chance to get a wrecked very low mileage 2017 GTI, also a manual. My question is will the engine swap work in my car? The fifth digit of my serial no. is a T. The fifth digit of the donor car is a 4. This has me concerned. Or since I have the computer from the 2017, is it simply a matter of swapping in the computer from donor car?
