Hi folks,

My 2014 Golf GTD has out of nowhere started flashing the Coil light and then a few miles later the Engine management light came on.

Then the Error stop-start system display has reared its ugly head.

My little diagnostics tool is reading code - P0544 EGT Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor.

Is all the above connected to this 1 sensor?

Can anyone confirm its the brown plug in the bank of 3 on the bluk head please.

Or its location on the manifold.

Thank you in advance.

Get your battery "LOAD TESTED" . Not just a voltage check.

Thanks for the replys, doing a bit more digging and it looks like this has been covered a fair few times.

What with the unexplained coolant loss im experiencing and having spent a small fortune on that and still no cure this just make me want to sell up.

There seems to be a sensor down behind the turbo area with a black plug thats probably the egt1 that needs replacing.....a special socket seems to be the only way to get it out.....

Load test completed-not dropping below 14.28 under load.

Orange plug seems to be the sensor in question after unplugging them all.

Came back with a vw part number of 04L 906 088L....

I just wanted to add to this thread, after having the same problem with my 2014 Mk7 GTD Cuna Engine. I had the MIL light and flashing glow plug lights. The fault showed up as PO2080 or PO544 EGT sensor 1 Bank 1. The location of the sensor is at the back of the engine, before the turbo as shown as G235 in a previous message on this thread. It is difficult to remove without a vw tool. I got it out with a 17mm crows foot and a small mirror. The plug from the sensor is black and is on the top of the engine at the back below the plastic cover. Part numbers for this sensor are
4L906088
4L906088HT
4L906088DQ
4L906088AE
3hts0096(Bosch Part Number)
I hope this helps anyone else that may be trying to figure this issue out. FYI - this sensor fault has nothing to do with the three plugs, orange, brown or black located on the right of the engine bay.
