Scratch that idea....too much involved and I can't get over the look of "it looks out of place". GTIs only look good lowered. Going to funnel funds to get a 50/60s c10

I'd honestly just go back to stock height before doing a lift. Like you said the GTI looks a little awkward with an altitude increase

A C10 would also be rad haha

It was a horrible idea, but you could tell my take on that when I text doing that to a different car 😂😂.

Honestly just raise your fortunes up some. Like to lowering spring heights

yeah.....I TRIED to make myself like it, but couldn't. I like the idea of something lifted, just not the GTI lol.

on the fortunes.....they're getting near rebuild time....$225/corner and full warranty when you get them back. Plus, they're modular so you can move up to whatever stage you want. I'll probably stay with 500s

Alright......leak down test tomorrow morning at 0800....follow up to my 20 psi different in cylinder #4 during a compression test. We're about to see if I have to start saving for a build

I only ever compression tested the MX3, but because your build thread is a safe space -- how does leakdown testing work? Is it just 'leave the compression tester on and see how much it drops over time'? Or is it a completely separate tool/testing method?

They are kinda opposites. Compression test measures the engines ability to create pressure. So you crank the engine to see how much pressure it's making in each cylinder. Leak down you're measuring it's ability to hold pressure. You add pressurized air into the cylinder through the spark plug hole and a second gauge measures how much of that compressed air is escaping. So you'd need compressed air and a second gauge for leak down test.

Different hoses. Compression hose lets air in, registering compression air. Leak down hose lets full air into the cyl. With intake and exhaust valves closed, if air escapes, you listen/look to see where the air is going. In this case, you could hear air through the dipstick to meaning it was getting into the crank case.
