we’ll see. People say the TDI fix tune on the 2.0 TDIs is gutless but I’ve been driving my gf’s 14 JSW TDI for 2 years and have never had a complaint. I love that car as-is. If the Treg is anything like it, I think I’ll be able to live w/o tuning.

Also, yeah I got a little fresh with Jim (I believe the C word was used) and got banned for it under my golf wang name lol.

C word? Cool? Jim is a cool guy 😎

You only thought you did and all this time you had no idea who was behind that kindly Dog Dad Wagon mask.

Dun, dun, dun!

It was one very stupid interaction haha, nothing worth remembering. I must’ve woke up on the wrong side of the bed as I had no reason to throw insults given the circumstances haha

Typical wagon driver 🤣

Deposit down, loan approved and flight booked to pick up the Touareg Friday 1/22 in Milwaukee. The excitement for this one beats that of any car since my first GTI. It’s the first big change since as previously I just drove Jetta’s, and since have owned 3 GTIs and a modded Alltrack. Ready for something completely different. It’s also nice that I get to drive the car for 15 hours to get home, get real acquainted with it on the way home.

also happened to find someone with Touareg 7P cross bars for sale on the way home in Ohio, so will be scooping those. Already have a snowboarding trip planned in Vermont for February/March so I’m ready to see what she does in the snow. Will be getting new tires before then as well.

I'm here for updates on the puppy.
She’s been good since I got her on a hypoallergenic diet in July. I’ve learned her skin issues are a more severe version of the eczema I had growing up, like father like daughter lol. I just bathe her every 2 weeks with a medicated shampoo and she hasn’t had a rash since the season changed from summer to fall, early October.

The miss had custom car air fresheners made of her from her puppy days.

As cool as this is, I maintain that I wouldn’t have sold my Alltrack if it was a DSG. I will only buy manuals as track cars, so my next manual won’t be for another 5 years or so and it will likely be an early 2000’s Miata/S2000. Depends on a few factors, who knows maybe I’ll be able to swing for a Boxster, or maybe even a E30
So what happened with the manual that makes you say that? Sounds like you were a "manuals for life" guy in your first post.

I learned how to drive in my mom’s 2011 DSG CC. That was PQ35-era (MK5/MK6 chassis) TCU software. I still love that car to this day and it now has 130K on it.

My 2015 MK7 DSG GTI had the same transmission as my mom’s CC, but the TCU tuning is far more efficiency oriented than driveability. It always annoyed me. And when I got my Uni TCU tune and it didn’t address the issues I had with it, I had a bad taste in my mouth about DSG and wanted to return to manual (my previous 2 GTIs before the DSG MK7 were 6MT).

so I got a manual... and a year and a half in, I just didn’t care as much for it as I thought I did, at least not in a day-in day-out sense. I liked it sometimes, and not others. Despite 10 years’ experience driving stick, it felt like the transmission behaved differently day to day. Some days I got great shifts and it was sublime. Other days no matter what I did I couldn’t hit any smooth shifts.

also my gf got a 2014 TDI wagon (also PQ35) DSG and I absolutely love that car and how the factory ECU/TCU work together. Very few complaints.

I wish I got a DSG on the Alltrack because I would’ve gotten an APR tune which I have reason to believe would have kept me happier than the Uni tune I got on my 2015 GTI.

Anyway, getting an SUV about it now haha.
