I'm starting to think I should get me a C8 in my garage next to my SUPRA in the next 1-2yrs.

I did a build-my own.. A basic LT1 with Z51 package and probably drive it (or mostly park it) stock..
White with optioned silver stripes and red seats.

I've driven plenty of mid-engine Caymans but never a MR V8 nor owned one for that matter..
Should be fun. I'll keep my STI/Golf-R so no issue not having MT.

The C8 is awesome and all but if you get a C7 ZR1 you will be my hero. You can also get the C7 Z with a 7MT :devilish:

If you have your heart set on a C8 maybe we can meet half way at a Z06?? 😁

Yeah, the whole interest is around midship rear drive so C7 is out of the question for me. I am confident even the base C7 will totally be enough to entertain my driving capabilities, but I want the MR setup just for the sake of engine noise coming from behind the seat. The Z51 package has everything I'd want aftermarket so it'll be an easy way to finish my car. I'm at a point I don't want to go under a car and wrench too much any more and making compromises. Regular maintenance I would still do, but my interest is becoming more in keeping the car detailed in pristine show-car condition, and just admiring them in my garage.

Until I'm done driving my MT cars I currently own, I decided I'm going to skip the base Cayman in MT. It might be a while considering how much I enjoy driving my Golf-R and STI.

Slow week at work so I suppose I'll update my journal..

So the entire month of June was mainly working on my house, working with contracted landscapers for our lawn and garden care, house projects including minor repair on the garage ceiling. I still have this big library room project for my wife I need to work on this month.

Car wise, I installed CF paddles and BMS front tower braces in anodized black (looks fantastic) on my SUPRA and did an oil change on my FiST. I drove around my STI and Golf-R mainly on weekends for fun. Nothing out of the ordinary except my Golf-R developed this faint metal to metal clanking noise at very slow speeds. I thought maybe it was the brake pads again, but it makes noise while braking to a stop so I think it's suspension related. I checked the endlink torque and subframe bolts, no issue. It hasn't gotten worse and only sounds at very low speeds (under 10-15mph) so I just left it as a characteristic of the car..

My house is pretty old at 40yrs and the ceiling drywall joint tape started peeling back again in some areas dropping paint dust on my cars. I fixed and painted the storage area in the garage but still not fully done over my cars. I used my GoJacks to move the cars around while I spot repaired the joint tape with new nylon tape and mudded it up. No more flaking paint, but I still need to sand and paint the joints.. just checking if any other areas develop cracks in the paint before I paint it maybe later this summer. It's a 900sq ft garage so I decided to do it in sections and not kill myself looking upward all day long.

This holiday weekend I plan to pull out my SUPRA and have some BBQ with family. Should be fun.

I got an email from ValentineOne that for $389, I can upgrade my earlier version V1 to V1 Gen2.. New one costs $499 or something without trade-in.

Escort, since I'm also a 360c user, they are offering 360c's for $439.. and I get to keep my old V1's which still work fine.
Which to go with? I have two V1's..

How’s the Supra treating you? I saw a modded one rip by me the other day with an exhaust and a Mk4 style wing. Looked/sounded great.

Hey PowerDemon. Yeah, the SUPRA's doing great. Beyond the honeymoon period now, she's definitely a keeper.
Also been enjoying my Golf-R and STI lately since things have settled down on the car. I think the only other mod I'm going to do is a red anodized oil filler cap. LOL

Also been working on my garage as well. USPS has several of my banners that I was going to put up on the walls, but they have been SUPER SLOW on delivery..even lost a couple of my packages.

Hope all is well with you and your GTI.

Great journal. Love your cars and setup. Keep the updates coming. You are an inspiration!

Thanks, tpellegr!

So, banners for wall decoration.. I still haven't found a good one for my Golf-R's wall so decided to order Continental, Michelin, and Mobil1 banners along with a bunch of vintage gas station/oil signs..

Also, I am out of hand tool storage space and thinking of getting 2 compact rollers from SnapOn this time since the Milwaukee one already has one broken damper on the soft-retract (?).

There are 4 oil filled dampers per drawer and one of the 4 seized up on the biggest drawer. Not sure how, but it prevented the drawer from fully closing so I was basically forced to tear it off the rail. It still retracts gently as it did before and locks with just 3 dampers, but there is really no way to fix it unless I remove the rivets and entire rail assembly.. I don't think Milwaukee thinks this is a service item. At least SnapOn has a lifetime warranty.

I used 2 different iPhones (one old) to take these pictures so the color temperature is messed up.

Glad to hear that you are still enjoying the Supra. The more time goes by the more and more they grow on me. If it came with a 6 speed I think I'd have to have one, but I’m sure the 8 speed is an excellent alternative.

Garage looking on point as always. I love the Brembo banner.
