Hi,

I will soon be the owner of a brand new GTD next week and already I am looking at getting a chip for it. I had a quick look around the interwebs and chip express seemed to be a good looking unit. Has anyone had any experience with them ? And I guess that it would be wise to remove the chip before taking it in for servicing etc ?

Thanks in advance

Chris, I'd try Carbon Chip tuning - they have a plug-in unit now that works via OBD. Mine was re-mapped direct to the ECU by Nick @ Carbon but they now have a plug n play unit that you can load/remove via ODB. Their map has been custom developed for the GTD, our car, on their own test car. Worth a look first...

Thanks, I have sent them an email for some information on the device. I was planning on running the engine in for a few thousand miles before getting a chip. How do you find your GTD for every day driving ? I have only had a miles test drive in it so not had a decent run in one.

I've also got a map from Nick at Carbon Chip Tuning.
Can't rate the service highly enough.
And the map is great. Drives like stock, but with more power and torque. Lovely and smooth delivery

Richie how does the map go with a dsg box?

It's mostly good. I can induce a little clutch judder if I'm an idiot. Manual mode and use too high a gear. But in D or Sport the box shifts down and the car goes.
I try not to use the last bit of throttle (kick down or whatever it is) as this can make the box drop 1 too many gears, but it did this before the remap too. As good as the DSG is, it can still be a little dim witted at times.

Nick said he would alter my map slightly to avoid the clutch judder, but it's easy to drive around it, and I don't want any torque dialled out as when I want it, I want it all!
