According to autocar it will get 67.3 combined imperial MPGs, so that means 56 US MPGs. I'd be impressed even with 50 MPG combined.

I love my R, but if I'd been able to choose between a GTD and the R, there'd have been some very thorough consideration. I started out waffling between fuel-efficient cars and fun ones, and the GTD would have fit both bills.

VW, make a GTD-R and I'm *yours*. Wait, you already got my money. Dangit!

I can only hope that VW sees the value in bringing a performance diesel to the US market. We have a A3 TDI and it's an awesome blend of efficiency, styling and handling (if not power). Been looking at an MKVI or VII to replace our other car, but would wait for the GTD for sure.

Finally.....diesel is gaining traction in the US. Took long enough, and thanks to the Euro brands for getting it here (again)
