I've got a 2014 1.6TDI Golf Estate (or Sportwagen in the states), i haven't driven it all too much recently (spent way more time in my ND Miata) and on cold startup i've noticed a weird belt like chirping noise, looking into it a little bit i have seen that some people have had issues like this with failing timing belts/tensions/water-pumps, mines just been done about a year ago so it shouldn't be that. I would try and take the belt off to see if the noise goes away but it's a little bit more involved than whipping the belt of a longitudinal engine like i'm used to so i'm looking for opinions and ideas, there's a video below to show you what it sounds like.
