Is there anyway to use this on a North American car with an aftermarket switch?

If you know how to do electrical wiring it is do able, you need to get yourself an Euro leveling switch, run the wiring from the switch to the headlight positions.

A few people tried it out and got it to work on the MK6 GTI/Golf, but it was fair bit of re-wiring and work to do.

Oct 16th Update

I have a shipment of the GTI and Golf R lights arriving at the end of this month. If you preorder, you can take advantage of the preorder price of $635 shipped with the HID Kit.

After Nov 15th, I need to raise prices a bit to account for higher than expected shipping costs, and higher costs for the HID Kits.

What are the differences of the 2 headlights? the Golf R version looks like it has 2 projector lenses per housing whereas the GTI version has one projector lens, one high beam standard halogen lens and one cornering light? Does that extra bulb in the GTI headlights work like a corning light?

Yes, that is correct, the Golf R, has a secondary high beam for the inner light, and the GTI has the cornering light, and only one halo, while the Golf R has two halos.

Same sort of setup as the OEM Xenon lights.

Hi Ed, I am interested in your headlights but want to confirm your comment above regarding the GTI version only having one halo. It looks like the GTI lamp pictured on page 1 does have two halos? The difference other than the redline looks like the inner light being an LED vs. a second projector light on the R version. Can you confirm regarding the halo question?

Your lights are for the halogen cars only, will you be offering the R replicas to the people who already have xenon lights from the factory???

The "lighting package" costs $1000 USD and while Ed's replicas' are amazing, they are only $635 USD. It just seems smarter to keep the factory lighting package if you already have it in my opinion. I recently switched my halogens to Ed's replicas and I love them but I wish I would have just been patient and waited for a black GTI w/lighting. Here's a pic of what they look like installed,

Thanks for the pics, that answers my question as there are two Halo's per side on the replica lights. The lights certainly look stock and appear to be high quality. Like you I would have preferred to have the stock lights, but availability at the time and $1500.00 under invoice affected my end decision. I know that I read that these lights do incorporate a motor in each light that if wired can allow adjustment via a wheel switch I would guess similar to what I had when I owned an EVO VIII. That set-up worked great for me and I selectively used it when I felt I needed to and in some cases it provided better control than the auto levelers I had on my MKV GTI Bi-xenons. If there are motors then it would be worth exploring I think . I had a set of prodrive projectors back in 2002 on a new WRX and I wired those motors to a factory euro adjustment wheel and it worked like a champ.

I am most interested in your experience with the performance of the new replica HID's over the stock halogens. Personally I don't mind the way they look, and they are also pretty decent as far as output and beam projection. Are the replica lights a major improvement? I have had numerous cars with bi-xenon so I am familiar with the crisp cut-off and color differences vs halogen just wondering in practical application between these two lighting solutions with this particular car what your experience has been so far.

Thanks again.
