Glad I bought a 2016 SEL

I got a great model year end deal on a Golf SEL. It has automatic transmission, the lighting package with the adaptive headlights and the driver assistance package, navigation system, power driver seat, and sunroof.

Checking the 2017 specs it looks like the same equipment is even available on the Golf, even the GTI. Come close it have to order and autobahn addition of the GTI and that comes only with a manual transmission.

I'm sure glad I got the 2016 SEL! It looks like VW really cut back on the options that are available for 2017.

Congrats on the 1.8T

Not the bolder sentence is a little confusing? Do you mean to say that there are several features/options that are no longer available for 2017? Any more specific examples?

This myth about manual only on the autobahn trim needs to be put to rest. There's several of them with autos sitting on dealers lots right now. Can easily be confirmed by looking at inventory on their sites. VW's configuration site is imply messed up (just like how it originally listed all 2017 gti's as having 162hp).

you can still get an sel with all of those things.
lighting package and dap are now order only though where as they were included before.
So yeah, 2016 was a better deal as base price (who pays that anyway) went up $600 but those 2 things were removed as standard.

Wrong. S and Wolfsburg are the only trim levels now, and there is no lighting package, no Fender audio, available on any Golf, without stepping up to a GTI. SE & SEL trims no longer exist.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read the Golf SE & SEL are available but on an order basis only. S & Wolfsburg will be normal stock vehicles.

You are correct. For some reason thought we were talking about Sportwagen.

Pbrowne, I'm wondering if we bought our SEL's from the same dealer. I searched the world over for a specific car, and found the only one at FitzMall. I did notice they had 2 or 3 when I was looking.

Nope, when you go to VW's website and "build your own" it's order only and manual only for Autobahn.

Hmmm...well there's a lot of misbuilds/unicorns out there then:
