Finally got the ECS master cylinder brace. 2nd time ordering it after I got strung along for 6 months of "it'll ship next week", and was on sale decently.

Is it snake oil? Probably not 100%, but if it firms up the pedal a bit I'll shill a bit for it. Wish Tyrolsport made one for MK7: I hate giving money to ECS.

All this time without the car really has me missing the good times it brings.

Last update was that the window to get the steel and clutch packs sorted before HPA moved couldn't be hit and they're forced to pack up and move the shop through the month. Looks like Dec 1 to resume work on the swap, though all fabrication has been completed ahead of this so it technically is just smash it all together, wire, plumb and run a break in at the dyno as soon as they're back.

I'm so desperate for some seat time that I've picked up a full sim racing cockpit and gonna be diving into AC and iRacing to scratch the itch and keep burying the sadness.

Any update on the ECS master cylinder brace?
Sadly no. I won't be able to install it until I get the car back after the swap.

What do you play?
Fresh to sim racing so just mucking around in AC and all the mods and tracks available to it. Downloaded all the west coast tracks, including the BC local tracks.

AC is awesome. Been sim racing for 3+ years and it is still my go to. So much content. Apparently AC is now on Low Fuel Motorsports as well so easy access to good quality racing.

So true it hurts.

At least I can drive a solid analog of the R in sim...

If one wanted to get into yet another hobby, where would they go to hyper fixate on sim racing? I would love to have a setup at the house. What’s a realistic budget for someone who wants a good setup ok to start?

Edit: also, was looking for the photo for your recaro seats. Man I love those.

I did a lot of hunting through reviews of different products. One of the most comprehensive sources I found was https://boostedmedia.net/ (YT: https://www.youtube.com/@boostedmedia/videos). Fanatec are the incumbent best for direct drive but Moza and others are quickly becoming better and are aggressively priced.

You can expect to spend $1500-1800 CAD (not sure what this is in freedom bux) for a setup like mine with a collapsible cockpit. That doesn't include a display device like monitors, or a VR headset. You can save money but you end up compromising on a good set of pedals (load cell is 100% recommended) or torque output on the wheel. That price will have equipment that'll last you a good while without breaking the bank or feeling like you compromised on something.

Thanks man! It's looking like the chances of getting the car back this year shot up from 0% today! Can't wait to rip around in it again.

Made an unplanned trip to HPA real quick to drop off my OEM radiator, and Marcel was kind enough to bring me back to get an in-person update on progress ahead of any socials. Oh boy, SHE. IS. CLOSE!

The wiring was just being wrapped and tidied in the car, and the engine is ready to get put in as early as tomorrow. I am letting myself get just a little excited.

They needed my OEM radiator as it looks like there needs to be some R&D for fabricating new core support mounting to clearance the cooling stack from the intake plenum of the DDKA engine. Though from @DerHase's analyses this may not be the worst, especially with the oil cooler duct @Redslaya created. I'll be gathering lots of data come track season with the OEM rad though before deciding if it's a direction I want to go.
