Do you think you'll make it to The Ridge Motorsports Park this year? Would be awesome to meet up and see your car in person.

I see an OnGrid date on Sept 24. That feels like a safe bet to head out that way to me, but hinges on a few other things, namely completing the swap. Drop off date was delayed due to an untimely Dyno failure which is being addressed.

Hey, necro'ing my own thread. Been a bit.

Just now dropped off my car to HPA for the VR550T swap. Delayed about 1.5 months due to a dyno failure and a cascade of other project delays. C'est la vie with a busy shop.

I went for a test drive in VR550T #1 a few weeks back with Marcel and got to characterize it a bit. It was also running the same suspension setup I have (KW V3), and it was clear that they were not capable of managing the weight transfer, with the car pitching pretty aggressively and causing spring binding in the front. Having driven their other VR6T swaps with clubsports, we quickly agreed that this is the right course of action for the build. I ordered a set of V4 clubsports immediately after, and was given a 5-8wk lead time. This would have put it almost to October, but shockingly (heh, pun), they arrived well ahead of schedule! They arrived yesterday, just in time to start the swap program.

So, goes without saying that the Ridge event Sept 24 is a no go for me however, they have promised me a delivery the 1st week of October. There is a Canadian thanks giving track day on my b-day, Oct 9, at Mission Raceway that I plan on debuting the world first of this engine being put to task at the track.

Pulled the track pads out of storage today now that it seems like I'll actually get to use them this year! DS1.11 front/rear and an old set of DS2500.

Work's well underway at HPA, and really appreciate getting in-the-moment updates as things are happening! Got sent this pic today from Jonathan. Just a few weeks of waiting.

Whelp, this week was meant to be the big week where we get the car back, but alas another unforeseen circumstance came to light. A few weeks back Marcel and I had a chat and there was a mishap with a supplier of raw materials for the build and that there would likely be a delay as a result. They tried to move heaven and earth to find alternatives or a new process to avoid it and unfortunately just couldn’t perform a miracle this time. It sucks, and was something which I don’t think anyone could have seen coming, and they deserve full credit for trying to avoid it.

The delay was going to be nominal however, they’re also moving to a new location mid-October: the build was mean to be the last big project they do at the current location. This means work won’t resume until late October while the move happens :( The final 3 track day possibilities are now off the table, and will have to wait until spring to open it up at the race track.

I guess the very thin silver lining here is that they’ve been beating the piss out of build #1 and it’s performing exactly as it should with no issues. There should be some new content coming out on their instagram soon (they shared an interview with me earlier last week too actually https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxwVEm3vnm_/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==).

I’m going to see if I can sort out a good way to get the car to WitW in 2024 but it’s a hell of a drive for a weekend. That’ll probably be the first big thing I’ll do with it.

The book of faces served me up a splash of cold water for when I caught the sickness which is modding: "Yeah, I'm just gonna do an exhaust". 8 years ago how things have changed.
