Newest addition to my home car wash, spot free rinsing! Only used it once so far and it makes drying so much easier.

Would you mind elaborating on this? I'd love to do a spot-free setup but I know so very little. We have a plug-in Ryobi pressure washer that's something like 1.2gpm IIRC that's been great for foam cannon/regular washing, but I'd really like to set it up with a filter system of some variety. Photo looks like a good place to start though, I see you're feeding from garden spout water and teeing off to filter or bypass, but both ultimately feeding the pressure washer. Do you have concerns about the pressure washer exceeding the water supply post-filter at all?

You got the plumbing right. I bypass the filter for pre-rinse, foam cannon, and initial rinse, and then I just use the filter for the final spotless rinse.

The filter came with a flow restrictor on the discharge side of the filter, but I took it out because it would starve the pressure washer. With the restrictor removed, the filter supplies plenty of water for my little Craftsman pressure washer (I think it does like 1.2 GPM max). I used the 45° nozzle, and the flow was low enough that the TDS was 0 after passing through the filter.

I also also have a 5-micron activated carbon filter before this for that filters the whole house so the water is already partially filtered.

The water going in started at 240-250 TDS btw.

The description states that the restrictor is to get filtering down to 0 parts, I imagine without the restrictor you're potentially not filtering everything. I'm likely going to make a move on this soon, because it would save me a ton of headaches (and be a great opportunity to build something

Use it only to do a finish rinse, if not that filter will last you about 3-4 washes. Wash/rinse with regular water, then rinse the hard water off with the DI water. I made my own DIC-20 and I order the refills from them, they last me about 4-6 months using them to rinse the car off. The DIC 20 is good for 300 gallons of DI water @ 0 ppm. That one is smaller than the DIC-10, which is good for 150 gallons @ 0 ppm, so a guesstimate would be around 75-100 gallons. Both DIC-20 and DIC-10 should be restricted to 2.5 gpm.

.75 gpm is the max flow for that filter, anything higher and you are not running at 0 ppm.

@Nineeightyone if you are a little handy at gluing together PVC pipe you can build one for around that price that would use a larger dual media filter. Don't know if the link below have both canisters, mounting bracket, and wrench included, but there are quite a few places online where you can get a set up like that at a similar price. 2 big blue filter housing (the 20")

You will need this, and 2 of this will be good to have, sucks that they are printing them now, I paid the same price for the original stainless steel rings. After that all you will need are the end fittings, depending on the housing you get they would be 1" mpt to 3/4 mgh.

Is there something special about the CR spotless filters? Could the same result be gained by just buying refillable cartridges, and bulk mixed bed di resin? This is looking at replicating the DIC10 system.

The price point and the convenience of swapping the canisters and shipping the used ones to them on their dime... $119 for 2 refills every 6 months is not that bad, most bulk mix bed are around $50 for 5 lbs. Both canisters weight close to 20 lbs. I guess if you were buying a 55 gal container, but as far as I know DI resin starts to go bad when you break the seal.

You can still just buy the DIC 10 canister from CR one time and buy your resin if you can find it cheaper. I used to buy a cheaper DI canister from Filters Fast, now they cost more, and they didn't last as long as CR, plus it was a use and throw away canister. The CR canister opens up, you can either buy the resin or the refill cartridge.

This filter is definitely a smaller size; it really only works with a small pressure washer. I just measured the flow through my pressure washer with the 40° nozzle, and it's around 0.9 GPM. The filter can keep up with it and maintain 0 PPM, as confirmed with the TDS meter.

Next question: How did you measure flow? I've got an older model entry-level Ryobi pressure washer, and as long as it's not gonna get starved with my setup (also 40° nozzle) then this looks like the move. Our water is so hard I cross the street when it comes around

Get a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Cut a hole in the lid. Stick in the pressure washer nozzle, hold down trigger for 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, measure how much water is in the bucket.

Get a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Cut a hole in the lid. Stick in the pressure washer nozzle, hold down trigger for 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, measure how much water is in the bucket.
