two bolts to free the trim and your choice of pry-tool/screwdriver to free the controller from the harness in the quarter panel. if you've ever taken trim pieces off it's a 1/5.
I agree it's about a 10 minute job requiring minimal tools. There is also a video available showing the step-by-step process. The unit is tucked behind the driver's side taillight.
I have it on my GTI and find it really helps at the track to eliminate some instabilities on certain corners at Sonoma for example.
