Hi guys ,had a oil change and filter clean on my front diff on my gti pp @ 19k i was shocked to see filter completely block with crud . Anybody had the same .

it’s a combination of the previous tech not cleaning out the basket thingy + the abuse you put on it (no offense)

seen this a lot with the focus RS and golf r’s after a few track days.

This was its first clean @19 k the car is only 3 year old,being an old man i usually drive sedately only accasionally giving it some beans. looks like it needs a clean after 12 months not 3 years.?

Depends on a few factors. If the apple sauce hunk isn’t cleaned when swapping filters. It’s just gonna build up

it’s gotta be properly cleaned out. Should be good after that.

I just got back from the dealer and got tired of arguing with them over this. Suffice to say they will not take my money for this service.

How hard is it to remove the pump to get to the screen? I assume that the pump is the large cylinder here in this photo. I'm guessing that there are at least 2 more bolts behind it holding it in. But since none of the videos I've watched actually remove it, I'm not clear how accessible they are. Once bolts are removed does it just slide right out? TIA

yea, in the US, I don't think there's a service interval listed in the U.S. manual. There is a service interval for ROW cars. I haven't looked for it myself, but that was my understanding about the XDS service.
