Hi everyone,
My lease on my gti is ending and I'm looking to get into something totally different (NOT fwd, hatchback, vw)

I will either lease or buy CPO. My budget is around 35k CDN + tax if i buy, or 50-55 CDN for a lease.

So far here are some of my top picks. Please keep in mind these are all cars I have never driven but have seen them, heard them and read about them:

BUY:
-2012 Audi S5 (4.2 V8) or 2013 Audi S5 (V6 supercharged)
-2011 Lexus IS-F (5.0 V8) (Picked this over the M3 for reliability and because they can be had for alot less)

LEASE
-2017 Audi S3 with magnetic suspension (Engine and suspension revised this year for +10 hp, +15 lb ft)
-2017 Audi A5
-2017 Audi A4 S line
-Volvo V60 T6 R-design

One thing I don't care about is gas mileage, I only drive about 12,000km/year.
My gti is currently lowered on VWR springs, which are not bad, but I'm definitely looking for something that's less jarring.

Any suggestions will help!

thanks!

I would love to have an A5/S5 at some point. They just have a road presence that is hard to replicate. Never driven one though so I cannot help you there.

My two cents,

If you go S5 definitely get the V6T, the 4.2 V8 sounds great and makes decent power but I have yet to work on one that isnt leaking oil, I would definitely not own one that was not CPO if you do choose that motor.

Lexus, I have no experience with them but I dislike the plasticy interior.

2017 A4, fantastic vehicle to drive. I drove one down the Oregon coast for a week this summer and it performed very well. The digital dash is awesome! It makes decent power and it carved the twisties with very little if any body roll. It fit 4 adults and our camping gear with ease. 2 thumbs up from this guy.

2017 Audi s3 would be nice, I also like the looks of the Volvo V60 R-design something different and a really good looker! [emoji41]

Used or existing 2016 S3s will be available for a nice discount I'd imagine:)

Something totally different would not be the S3 as it's based on the same platform and uses haldex (fwd biased) vs Quattro.

Out of your list my vote would be for the Audi A5/S5 .... Quattro and a coupe now that's totally different from your MK7 GTI!

Or look at a BMW M235

You could put your GTI back to stock, maybe put some 17" wheels on it.

A4's are actually a little faster 0-60 than our GTI's. I haven't driven in one but I did sit in one and really liked it.

I don't think so. My brother has a 2014 a4 Quattro and it honestly didn't impress me. We actually did a pull on the highway and I pulled away. Both cars stock.

2017 is the new bodystyle with a new motor and a completely different interior and instrumentation, totally different beast. 2017 has 32hp and 15ft/lbs more power.

You said you want "totally different", so get the ISF. They have such a presence, sound great, fast, relatively reliable. I do prefer an Audi/VW interior but if you're not spending long mileage drives in the car you forgo that and focus on looks and a nasty V8. Good Luck!
