New CSF radiators are YUGE. They look like they should perform very well 🤘🏼

She's back together, in one piece, and now on break-in mineral oil (Motul break-in). 50 miles today, and should be ready for full sends by weeks' end. Driving her the first 10 or so miles has been nerve wracking. Making sure to play over everything in my head that was touched, and confirming that I had correctly put everything back together. Have a small oil leak from turbo oil drain, and fixed the coolant fitting that was leaking (first one leaked, replaced and replacement leaked, so stop leak was used and is holding for now.)

What a ride.

IAnyhow, I've been modifying cars since the late 90's, and took a break for a few years to be in the military, where I was broke most of the time. Upon separation, and finding a decent career I started back into the wrench game with a '98 Nissan 200sx SE-R. It didn't take me long to want more from it, so I slapped a turbo kit on it from an SR20DET, and enjoyed it for a few months until I deployed as a civilian overseas.

Just happened to peruse this thread and got all nostalgic when I saw this paragraph. (I had a white ‘95 DE+T). Then realized your username looked familiar from the SR20 forums. Was your car silver by chance? If it’s the one I’m thinking of I think I remember seeing it at Jamie Marsh’s shop in CT years ago

Small world, nice cars!

I went into the dark with Subaru for a while, and when I left the country for a few years, I had no toys at all. Came back and Matt (Mattism78) down in FL had an R and told me to go test drive one. That was all I needed. I was hooked. LOL.

Parts are starting to filter in. Received the IE Tuscan rods, the IE springs and retainers, and the JE pistons. Took the pistons to the machine shop yesterday to have them begin the cut/hone process. Also dropped off the cam cover because two of the coil pack attachment bosses were seemingly stripped out upon inspection. Going to have them helicoiled.

Once I get the call that the block and head (and now camcover) are ready, I'll swap springs and retainers over while my buddy starts to work on the rotating assembly.

Meanwhile, I'm looking at an aftermarket oil cooler and potentially DSG cooler.

Noticed that you are running JE pistons. I’m about to purchase internals and I was considering purchasing the CTS spec JE pistons. Which JE pistons did you use?

Well, I suck at keeping my own thread updated. 🤣

After some motor rebuild issues, some of which were freak of nature issues, and some of which were the original machine shop's fault, I now have the car back in my possession after a 1300+ mile drive from Cali back to TX. New build:
  • 83mm JE FSR pistons
  • Boostline rods
  • King rod bearings
  • OE main bearings and mainstuds
  • Hand ported head with Ferrea valve springs and retainers
  • ARP 2000 head studs
  • EQT Brushless LPFP surge tank
  • EQT Typhoon Turbocharger
  • Galano Engineering Intake Manifold with MPI Rail
  • AToM V2 for Typhoon
  • DQ250 with Wavetrac LSD and Deka Clutch Technologies Stage 3 clutches
  • Milltek Sport Exhaust
  • EQT Tuned on Cobb AccessPort, E72.
  • APR catch can system
The non-essentials but still very much important (to me)
  • Aluminum subframe with Superpro inserts and EQT subframe hardware
  • JXB propshaft upgrade
  • Stoptech ST40 BBK
  • Apex VS-5RS 17x9 forged wheels wrapped in Continental EC-Force tires
  • Aerofabb front/rear (sideskirt to install)
  • Carbon Fiber steering wheel
  • 8" infotainment screen
I'm sure I'm likely forgetting some other random stuff, but that's the gist. I will most likely be looking for a bar/cage solution as 700+whp is obviously pretty dangerous in a 3400lb street car.

In order to keep the car from skating on the highway, I had to mount my drag radials to a set of Apex SM-10's in 18x8.5. They definitely help, but they're a bit sketch with the roads here sometimes. When the winds come in and pick up sand and throw it all over the highway, these end up being worse than the Extreme Contact Force tires. I think I'll have to get these worn down as soon as possible and look into some ET Street R's. Perhaps I need to rethink my wheel/tire strategy.
