I like your engine build, did I read correctly that you used OE head studs ?

For tires for your 18's I have had Pilots, Indy 500's, and now Extreme Contacts. The Contacts so far have provided the best grip.

ARP head studs. As for the tire selection, the only real choice at this level is a drag radial or equiv. I can even blow the DR2's off if I'm not careful lol

Quick question Cliff - how "bad" is the lag?

I've been staring at dyno graphs, and it seems like until 4500 RPM, the XL is making more torque and HP. Sound accurate to you?

Hey,

I wouldn't call it bad at all. at 4k ft elevation I'm making 30psi by 4100rpm. Far less lag than I honestly expected. I think the dyno we have of my car in CA at sea level was around 300wtq at 3500rpm. on the street it was quite a bit better. I would expect the STD and XL would make a bit more jam sooner, sure. It'd also fall off quite a bit where the typhoon just pulls like a freight train.

Well, I suck at keeping my own thread updated. 🤣

After some motor rebuild issues, some of which were freak of nature issues, and some of which were the original machine shop's fault, I now have the car back in my possession after a 1300+ mile drive from Cali back to TX. New build:
  • 83mm JE FSR pistons
  • Boostline rods
  • King rod bearings
  • OE main bearings and mainstuds
  • Hand ported head with Ferrea valve springs and retainers
  • ARP 2000 head studs
  • EQT Brushless LPFP surge tank
  • EQT Typhoon Turbocharger
  • Galano Engineering Intake Manifold with MPI Rail
  • AToM V2 for Typhoon
  • DQ250 with Wavetrac LSD and Deka Clutch Technologies Stage 3 clutches
  • Milltek Sport Exhaust
  • EQT Tuned on Cobb AccessPort, E72.
  • APR catch can system
The non-essentials but still very much important (to me)
  • Aluminum subframe with Superpro inserts and EQT subframe hardware
  • JXB propshaft upgrade
  • Stoptech ST40 BBK
  • Apex VS-5RS 17x9 forged wheels wrapped in Continental EC-Force tires
  • Aerofabb front/rear (sideskirt to install)
  • Carbon Fiber steering wheel
  • 8" infotainment screen
I'm sure I'm likely forgetting some other random stuff, but that's the gist. I will most likely be looking for a bar/cage solution as 700+whp is obviously pretty dangerous in a 3400lb street car.
Sir you tell me what you do for a living, I quit my job and work for you.

Cliff!!!!

Can we see some videos of this thing putting in work?

You’ve been through some hell (as I can relate to from my GTO build).

Now you have a hatchback that traps 140 and spins 4-tires… 🤯 😮 👏

Most definitely will get more content going, but for now she's down (again). Found the next weak point (DQ250 input shaft). Kinda an odd one, tbh. I had trans error codes and they weren't consistent. Ran basic settings and it failed and I lost all gears because the mech was not happy. Replaced the mech, same fault. Next step was to check the clutch packs, and they were just peachy so next was tearing down the gear case. Found a piece of gear attached to the shifter fork (they have magnets that adjust position and tell the mech what gear is selected with the fork). So that explained the mech issue because it couldn't see the fork magnet. from there it was a hunt to find which gear that piece came off of. Fortunately it was the input shaft outer, and that tooth didn't get lodged into another gear and completely destroy gear stacks.

All you’re doing is making me want to stay with an IS38 and E85… 😂

I don’t miss the “race it, break it, fit, repeat” days. 🏎

Tom? You mean Alex and Danny? As of now, no real intention of picking up that and running with it. He's staying pretty busy with our engineering wing

I'm terrible with names. Yeah. Alex.

Oh well. Would be cool to see that
