Hey fellas, just installed AWE track cat-back on my gti and just wondering how far the pipe sticks out inside the exhaust tip on other peoples cars. Mine seems to be stuck out pretty far. The end of the tips are right with the end of the bumper molding.

Not quite that far.

You might be able to adjust the slip joints to allow the rear section to sit a little further under the car. This should allow you to mount the tips a little further out on rear section to hide most of the inner pipe. Plus... after you put a few hundred miles on the exhaust, everything inside the tips will be covered in soot so you won't be able to see the inner pipe.

Yup.

Mine looked like this when first installed and it bothered me being able to see the pipes inside like that:

But now it's all black inside from the soot... and all is good.

See, the one side was spot on but the other stuck out way further for the same tip position - about 3/8" more. After about 4 hours of messing around, pulling the exhaust flanges closer without any body rub I finally got it pretty close. Now, the only issue I have is having to put one side of the exhaust rubber hanger higher to make both tail pipes even with the bumper. The sound is absolutely amazing, which makes all the fitment issues worth while

So besides a bit of adjusting is the the catback to go with?

Good to hear I'm just waiting for a decent sale and I will pick one up. Are you guys all running The track edition?

Yes to the Track edition.

I'm also running AWE catted downpipe as well.
Nice, I'm not planning on doing the down pipe any time soon. Maybe far down the road. I'm hoping just the catback will make a nice noise.

I have the catback only. Without a downpipe, I would definitely go for the Track Edition. Once broken in it sounds amazing and noise level is perfect (for me anyways). Makes it actually sound like a performance car without being obnoxious.

I second that! I too do not have a down pipe and not looking to do that anytime soon. The exhaust is exactly the sound, tone and look I was searching for.
