Faulty Drivers Door Weather Strip

Hi Guys,

Has anyone with a mk7 Golf had this issue?.

If you power down the window & take it back up, it smears the window to the point where you cant see

Passenger's side works fine, it clears standing water on the glass and wipes the window clean.

Car is going to VW next week to have the lower weather strip replaced.

Any ideas what causes this?

I used have a lot of problems on my passenger side windows in the past and this was cause by a bush type plant between mine and my neighbours property. The plant’s pollen caused green moss to collect very quickly on the glass and silt up the rubber window sills.

A couple of years ago the bush was removed and now I don’t get any problems at all so do you have trees or bushes close to where you park?

Car is not parked near any plants,bushes or trees.

So this w-end, I tried a clay bar on the glass, IPA wipe down. Cleaned and conditioned the rubber.

Still smearing the bloody glass .

Roll on Thu, when the rubber strip gets changed.
