Searched but got nowhere, would there be any issues installing a European 8" glass screen MIB II part #5G6919605B into a US 2016 Golf R?
Isn't the screen just plug and play?
Besides the screen and trim is there anything else I would need?

If you have the MIB 2 unit in the glovebox, then it is plug and plug and play.

You'll need the proper trim surround though.
Awesome thanks, got to source that part.

Why not go for the 9.2"?

After working for Cadillac for 8 years, I don't want just a touchscreen....I like the knobs...and I didn't realize it was another option.;)

No knobs, 100% touch. Gesture control reportedly very gimmicky and flaky. Glossy screen shows fingerprints and dust immediately (so does the 8" newer screen for that matter).

8" matte screen from the "old" '16-'17 models is the sweet spot IMHO.

I retrofitted one to my GSW, couldn't be happier with it. The newer glass version also looks like a mid-cycle refresh, it doesn't flow as well in the center stack.

Yes I totally agree - looks out of place and like an afterthought. I have the 8" matte upgrade too, extremely happy with the results.
