I'm going to purchase a set of euro xenons for my Golf R but was wondering if the DLA versions would work with the coding switched with VCDS from high beam assist to dynamic light assist. My Golf R has DDC,ACC ect and all the modules are the same between both headlights except the dynamic versions has the shutter built into the main beam for DLA. There a few hundred euro more for the DLA lights but the function is way better better than just high beam assist.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if you code it right. Might be worth having someone across the pond looking through their coding to see if anything else may be different if it doesn’t work

Do they use the same AFS modules? I asked about this awhile ago and was told no-one had gotten the 8IP code headlights to work on a NAR vehicle. Maybe see if you can find autoscan on Rosstech of a R with DLA and double check your modules.

If so I would assume it would just be a matter of coding.

EDIT: Speaking more to the AFS module in the dash on the passenger side rather than the AFS control unit that plugs into the headlight itself.

I did a side by side with vin active with my R and a Euro R w/ DLA with the same build date mine is a 01/17/2017 build date and all the headlight modules, Gateway, Camera, AFS are the same part numbers except the BCM because they have a 433hz freq instead of 315hz so it should work?

The Windscreen camera would be the only additional point of concern, but if you checked modules I would assume so. This is what the system uses to detect oncoming traffic I believe. Is it using a 7P6907357 AFS control module? BCM has the same pins but a different frequency?

Granted this is all speculation. I mainly looked into retrofitting AFS with Euro R headlights 8IM, so just calling out the modules that I know have different versions.

" Dynamic main beam will not work on the NAR cars (without the forward camera in the windscreen). Also, make sure you get the correct AFS modules as the non-R US cars almost always use Hella type but almost all RoW lights are Valeo." - was the advice I got when asking about the PR codes. I assumed he was speaking to the AFS control motor which is included if you purchase the headlight assembly - Unless it's the DRL modules or Power modules.

I have a late 17 Golf 7 R with ACC,DAP,DCC so I have everything already......Control unit with camera for traffic sign recognition, dynamic high-beam headlight, high beam assistant and Lane Assist and also have AFS module 7P6907357D 'lastest version'
Headlight range control8Q5Dynamic headlight range control,
with cornering light (AFS 1)

which is the same AFS used for 8IP DLA ROW headlights so no need to retrofit anything, the Golf R headlights weather 8IM NA/ROW or 8IP ROW all use the same headlight modules.

So I'm almost positive I just have to change coding from high beam assist to dynamic light assist with VCDS because when I do with 8IM headlight it gives a fault code becase the DLA shutter is missing signal.

Greek, did you end up getting the euro headlights. I have the same setup as you (2017 ACC,DAP,DCC) and am interested in doing the headlight swap. I recall finding a thread from around the 2017 time frame that suggested that VCP might necessary to get everything to work.

not yet my but I'm almost 100% sure our optioned cars are plug&play with coding changes.......my VW,Seat dealer I buy from in Bavaria quoted me 1600 euro for the DLA set and 1100 euro for the non-DLA with 3day shipping

Please post the results if you do it haha. I'm guessing you checked e-acca/cars245 they were more money?

I've been tempted by this before...

I recently looked at e-acca and it was under $1750 without shipping. I’m hoping to hear as well.

That's a big dramatic.. Many many members on here have placed orders from E-Acca and Cars245 with no issues. Also you can pay via PayPal so they never see your actual CC information anyways. E-Acca is posting the DLA ones as $1600 USD + shipping, which is ~$300ish cheaper. Last time I paid ~$60 for shipping my euro headlights and showed up in a week.

Also worst case I've gotten my CC info stolen on vacation in Europe before and its not the end of the world just a simple phone call, all the fraudulent transactions get reversed and then a new CC in the mail.

I was doing a bit more research on this Greek. I think you're essentially right, that these headlights can be dropped in. However, I'm relatively certain that you need VCP (https://europrice.us/interface-vag-can-professional) or some other device to adapt the new DLA headlight modules to the main ECU. Otherwise, I don't believe they will work. I feel like that's the big hang up. It would be another $400 on top of the cost of the headlights for VCP. Since you can't adapt modules with VAGCOM, you would need VCP to finish the job.

the DLA modules are the same part number so just re-use the old ones
