Have you find a reliable way to duplicate this every time?

I'm trying to capture a video of it.

Manual mode on the DSG usually on a shift from 1st to 2nd. Problem is that it doesn't show up on any sort of schedule since I always drive my car that way.

I have shown a video of the exact error to the dealer, BUT it wasn't my car. I've also provided them with the error message verbatim. Even if I get a video from my car, that will not help to duplicate the concern. VTA knows about the problem and also knows the fix. Lastly, VWOA agreed that asking a customer to obtain a video is bizarre, and in some states it's illegal to operate a handheld device while driving. It is not the customers job to diagnose their own vehicle. This wouldn't be an issue if the engineers would have stored an ECU fault when the error occurs, that way it COULD be seen and diagnosed by the dealer.

So VTA knows the fix but the dealer won't fix it? That makes no sense at all.

Warranty dept wants proof that it's occurring on my vehicle before they cover the cost of it.

Wait what????? That makes no sense. If there's a problem with the car and it was duplicated for the tech/manager then they have no basis to not fix it. I would of fixed the car regardless I don't let warranty dictate anything. Car is within 3/36 it's warranty to me!!!

Began having this issue as well. The error has happened twice over the last few days. Both times the vehicle was warm and the temperature outside was 80°+. Both times it was in manual in 6th gear coasting down a bridge around 70mph. The error popped up for a second, went away, then popped up again. Each time the message was barely up long enough to read.

They haven't duplicated the problem on my car, which is why they are requesting a video or picture of the error message.

Which still hasn't happened since I picked up the car from the dealer.

Thought I was share the pictures I was able to capture on my 2015 GTI DSG. I'm having the dealer look into this same issue, it's been popping up for a few months but more frequently recently.

I think I am having this same issue. I have had an error message three times now. The last one was 2 days ago and was the first time it stayed on long enough to read a few words. I have dsg.

I saw "Error: Service" followed by either vehicle or engine. Not positive, but I think it was vehicle. I wasn't able to read the rest of the message before it disappeared.

Same situation, however, started, backed out of driveway, put in drive, and appears within 2-3 blocks leaving the neighborhood at low speeds. Likely always in 2nd gear. It seems very random other than it always being at the beginning of my drive.

The difference with me is that I have already had my shifter replaced due to peeling chrome. The messages all occurred after the shifter replacement.

If you have a vagcom cable, keep an eye out for this code. This is the culprit once I saw the below code, I took it to the dealer and they confirmed it was a faulty shifter mechanism.

I don't have a vagcom cable, but maybe the dealer will be willing to check for the codes. My service advisor has the same car so he's been fairly helpful with other issues. I'll probably wait and see if it happens again and try to read the whole message. I'll try driving in manual mode more to see if I can trigger it as well.

Are they replacing your shifter? Hopefully that fixes it for you.
