Where should i begin, i bought a 2014 MK7 GTI a couple months ago that seemed to be in an amazing condition. i was told the only issues it had where water soaking into the bottom of the car that got cleaned out.
The Car runs and drives perfectly but came with a few issues i’ll list below
1. All Interior Lights do not work, not front not back not footwell nothing. No Interior Lights
2. Door Strip Lights don’t work + Cluster and Aircon Buttons lights are very dim. (Cannot be modified in the cluster.)
3. Car does not lock/ unlock with key
4. I get a message saying Engage Car in Park when trying to shut it off even tho it is already in park.
I began by tackling the Gear issue in order to lock the car as leaving it unlocked for 3 months hasn’t been too ideal. I ordered the part 3Q0713128. This has fixed the issue and car now registers it’s in park. I can now lock it with the key itself but not with the remote buttons. I tried doing the re-sync and that did nothing.
Interior lights, iv traced all the wires on the roof harness and non of them get power.
Fuses are all good, All recieve power no blown fuse nothing.
This has all pointed me towards the J519 Unit (5Q0937084AJ) that’s on the car.
As i was pulling the unit out i noticed it said “Golf MK7” with a white highlighter which is what scrap shops write with on parts leading me to realize it’s been replaced before.
While unplugging the 3 Cables on the unit. The door panels LED strips started working out of no where + the LED strip in the door footwell + All the dim lights cluster and Aircon buttons have lit up!
Now looking at the replaced J519 Unit directly i am lead to believe it has nothing wrong with it, everything looks perfect, no burns no marks of repairs, no bent pins.
So thinking back about the Door strips, i’m starting to believe the issues i have (interior lights and key fob not working) could be related to the wires that were connected to the unit.
I am by no means an electrician but i do have the basic tools (Ameter, Power source checker, etc), i do not know where to go from here and have hit a road block.
i plan on trying out a replacement J519 Unit tomorrow in order to know if i should order a new one.
I will attach some pictures of the unit, any advice , leads or a direction to follow would be appreciated.
i can run an OBD11 Scan as well and attach that if needed.
Thank you
