VW racing over here had theirs on the rollers and IIRC it pulled bang-on 300bhp as standard.

Interestingly it made 350+ "with ease". They reckon 360-70 is realistic for stage one tuning alone!!!

Not sure if you did remember correctly, as the engine develops 300PS which is slightly less than HP. Ir you did remember correctly and VW racing have their figures wrong? :confused:

Well 300ps is 296bhp so it's as near as damnit on the numbers compared to say an E46 M3 or a Clio 172/182, both renowned for making nowhere near claimed power when tested.

VWR claimed 300 on the nose (I'll try find the link) and that's impressive for a brand new car with limited miles under its belt.

Either way the R seems like a good base to tune upon and with time I'm sure various tuners will have it into the 400 region without too much difficulty.
