Dyno testing with PTP Turbo Blankets

Hey, thanks for a very informative read! Mind you, I didn't go into the thesis paper, just the 3-page cliff notes.

Haven't seen any is20 or is28 blankets yet, but am interested in trying one out. Will post here if I find anything.

Our "headers" are engine-coolant-cooled; it seems possible a turbo blanket would also heat that coolant more... If so, the blanket could still be nice in winter-cool days...

I have a blanket on mine, its a T3/T25 size, but it did take a bit of fitting because of two things, the flange for the turbo to the exhaust manifold is quite large and obtrusive, and the wastegate actuator arm is located right in the middle of the exhaust side of the turbo, so you don't want to obstruct it with anything that could cause it to get stuck or blocked from moving.

I ended up having to cut a slot in the blanket and restitch part of it, and enlarge the bottom where it would have gone around the turbo because of the manifold being too wide to fit. I used a good amount of very long stainless steel zip ties to accomplish this.

Underhood temperatures are noticeably cooler with a blanket when the engine is hot, I would also recommend wrapping the downpipe with exhaust wrap as well for the best effect.

I've contacted PTP and they said the closest fit would be the universal T25/T28 size. I'm strongly considering purchasing one.

cts turbo also makes a blanket for 100$, which looks to be a perfect fit, although the price is 5x that of the blankets seen on ebay with very similar specs. I'm sure the ebay blankets aren't a perfect fit, but as mentioned in a previous comment, a little modification will make them work and with the money saved one could purchase exhaust wrap. I'm still up in the air about weather I want to spend the hundred and be carefree or explore the world of ebay some more...
