Was driving my 2015 Golf R on the freeway today at around 80 MPH when the truck in front of me either kicked up or lost a heavy object out of its bed.
Next thing I know, I see this object in the air coming at me, and WHAM. Driver's side door mirror is gone (pics attached).
The few body shops I contacted me quoted USD 800-900 to replace it.
Is there any alternative? Something I could do myself? I'm not very handy at all, but I'm sure there are Youtube videos for everything these days.
My regular mechanic said he can't help since the cap needs to be painted.
$800 seems like an absolute ripoff for a mirror replacement.
