Does this sound like my starter motor or alternator needs to be replaced?
For the past week, I've been having intermittent issues when starting the car. Sometimes the car starts as normal, and randomly and occasionally, it just would not start no matter how many times I try cranking. I've had my battery replaced with a new battery so that can be ruled out. Whenever it won't start (i have push button start), all the lights would still come on but engine wouldn't crank, then I would have to connect my battery jumper starter pack (PSA the NOCO Boost jump starter is awesome), then the car starts easily on the first try. based on everything described above, I suspect the starter is ready for replacement, especially with 170K miles on the original part. someone on another forum suggested I need a new alternator if it starts up with the battery jumper.
