Wondering if someone can assist me in solving a problem I have with my MIB2 unit installed in my 2015 Golf.

I had the dealership remove component protection - which worked fine except for the fact that it disabled Apple Carplay/Android Auto (which was previously working before component protection was removed by the dealer). Fortunately, everything else functions as normal.

When trying to use Carplay, the screen says
| "App-Connect" You can activate the function by buying an activation key from your VW dealer. |

The dealership has no idea how to resolve this for me as they have never encountered an "app connect activation key".

Details of my components are as follows: Software Train: MST2_US_VW_P0504D, Version: 0613, Glovebox Unit: 3Q0 035 844, Screen: 3G0 919 605 H

Any help would be much appreciated.

When you say it was previously working, had you done anything to the unit beforehand like patching it or running the Congo and Duke activator?

I have not patched or run the activator. Carplay would register my phone and function as normal (except that with component protection there was no audio). Now the radio no longer has component protection, so I can use it as normal for all functions except carplay/appconnect. Here are photos showing carplay before and after dealership removed CP for reference:

At this point, should I try running the activator/patching?

You should run the Congo and Duke SD activator but you should ignore the component protection patching aspect (e.g., the delphi.sh and ifs stuff) because you have had component protection removed. The activator should add the function enabling codes (FECs) that you need.

That did the trick - thanks for the help! Not sure why I was so apprehensive about doing that in the first place.

The new unit has the 'sport' panel with boost, oil and coolant temperature gauges. There is no output from the temp readouts (although those on the main console work fine) and the boost gauge is miscalibrated.....24 PSI at maybe 3/4 throttle, around 8 at cruise and around 4psi on coast down.

Edit: found a solution elsewhere: the reading is not corrected for atmospheric, so subtract 14.7 from any # displayed.

Is everyone here using OBDeleven to activate ethernet connectivity and clear any codes after CP removal or would Carscanner ELM work as well? I'd like to use it on my non-VW car as well.

Looking to do this to my 2015 S with the base audio. Couple questions.

1. Is Sirius XM still able to be activated after patching?
2. If I choose a USB port with the AUX and do the pin swap, does the aux also work?

1. I believe it can be although I cannot recall hearing about this either way
2. YES, you can! In the threads I link to above there are instructions on how to wire in the Aux cable. It's as easy as wiring the USB cable. Just a few more wires, and I knew I would never use AUX

Ciao.

I've read through this and many pages of the orig conversion thread, but have a question for @Drewpul and @brentgti

This thread rec's the 8" screen 5G0919606. Is it possible to use 8" screen from newer vehicles as long as you are using the correct brain box? Would like to go with this one instead - 5g6919605c - https://www.ebay.com/itm/395595860317 as it seems to be easier to find a bezel for it on the cheap

Thanks for the DIY & info.

That one should work fine.

16 days later and I've got it all into place! Did the Congo & Duke Activator and Delphi patch via Putty. Ran into a couple things.

My car has parking sensors (but no rear cam), they chime on and make the sounds as you approach but the display says "ParkPilot unavailable" and doesn't show the little display of the car with the reverse turning on.

The audio won't adjust/car thinks its having a phone call? When I rotate the volume knob the green level bar pops up, but doesn't go up/down. - Fixed this one, I messed up some wires when I was re-pinning!

When pressing the "SOUND" button I get a message that says "The sound settings are not available until after the phone call or announcement ends." The radio is playing as it says this message. I've disconnected bluetooth and tried. Same thing. - This seems to have resolved itself after a few days of driving. Who knew lol.

Does it matter if I use the screen 3G0919605D instead of 3G0919605H?

Also 3q0035844A over the regular 3q0035844?
