Following for a solution as well. Doesnt really bother me too much in the GTI but in our 22 Tig it would be very helpful. Our 3yr old daughter often takes naps when driving and as soon as the door opens when we get home she wakes up. Itd be nice to let her rest a bit more.

Following as well, I hate electrical babysitters in cars telling me to wear my seat belt, bring my key, turn engine off, put car in park, etc. Like come on.

Never wake a sleeping child... because then they'll be awake. HAHA!

At least the message doesn't say "Try to put something important in your back seat..." ;) Yesterday, someone told me that his new truck has a sensor to let him know if something is in the back seat. It drives him nuts because he keeps a bag or boots back there. Regardless, I feel your pain. I used to let my daughter sleep anytime she could. My old TDI saw a lot of desert idling in the early 2000's.

This^. You got lost in your own thread
Nope I didn’t. In NAR, when the engine is running, gear in Park and you open the door, you get the stupid “engine is running” beep.

But apparently it doesn’t happen in ROW or euro models in the same situation.

@lordnikon228: Hmm....... I have never understood the nanny road rules up there in the land-of-the-free!!

Anyhow. I don't think that I have an answer - but you may be aware of a series of channels in the hex19 module that control some of the annoying messages that are shown on the display. These specific messages can be de-activated with a diagnostic device.

I've included the RoW version of these channels below - perhaps the NAR model mk7s have a longer list (I'm not sure - I don't get to see many NAR mk7s down here in the very deep South ;))?

My other guess (emphasis on "guess") is the software switch on the hex17 module Byte 12, Bit 4. According to the "yellow" long-code helper screen on my VCDS - this switch has the descriptor Exit warning, yes. Might be worth flipping this Bit OFF if it's set to ON on your car? It's an easy try - so worth a shot IMO!
