Different or same bumpers between GTI and R?

Are the front and back bumpers on the GTI and R the same for mounting front/rear splitters? The website shows me the Golf R splitter when I choose GTI in the drop-down box (there is no GTI splitter listed).

So does anybody know if I can use the Golf R splitters for the GTI?

They are not the same. Only the standard Golf, GTI and GTD share the same bumper on the rear. The R bumper is a bit wider and the rear diffuser does not cover the full length of the bumper like the GTI one does.

but lets say a 2018 GTI owner had a 2018 Golf R exhaust in hand. supposing he was going to hack at the muffler, weld to the GTI pipe, etc etc...

even though the Golf R rear bumper is wider, would it still bolt up to a GTI? or would the rear bumper not match the GTI hindquarters at all?
