Log from the TC on with my crappy all seasons - holding a very steady 0.5g under accel which is where it peaks before the wheels start spinning.

And this log here shows pretty well that it's losing steam after 6200rpm and that's probably where I ideally need to be shifting (that is where longitudal accel starts dropping off). Plus you can see it holding steady traction as it cuts in and out WGDC and pulling timing:

This traction control is awesome. Holds a pretty steady .575g forward accel with the V730s on there.

Messed around with it while accelerating through a turn as well... the quick dip in forward accel is from cylinder cut intervening because the ignition and wastegate pull were not quite enough to keep it under control.

These cusotm TC settings are pretty neat! It's looks like it performs way better than the stock TC which is a bit overkill

The traction control was friggin awesome. I logged some of the TC parameters in this video so you can see it in action. You'll noticed when the tachometer goes up, pauses, then keeps going... that's the TC patch doing it's thing. It's very smooth and seamless.

The V730s absolutely sucked when cold. I ran them starting around 29/29 PSI cold aiming for 33F/32R PSI hot and it was skating all over the place. Did that for like two runs. Third run started feeling better. Dropped pressures to 29F and 27R hot and then 4th and 5th were great. Could use a bit more grip up front... but really don't want to push myself out of STH now as I actually had a lot of fun and will be running the full season. I think offset LCA bushings will be my only hope short of going full coilovers which I'd rather avoid.

I finished just barely ahead of my buddy Ashton in his non-PP GTI. His car is a 6MT but otherwise similarly prepped but with 10k/12k coilovers (either BCs or Standards revalved by a friend of ours who used to build shocks for desert racing teams or something). I think he's on RT660s? Regardless I know I had some time still in it as-is.

Next event is on a concrete airport lot in a month... so all my tire pressure stuff learned will probably mean basically nothing. It's used once per year so even though it's concrete, I doubt it'll be super grippy. Need to snag a co-driver to get heat in the tires :ROFLMAO:

Minor updates:

Just been playing with the tune a bit - adding timing which seems to have picked up about 15-20 more hp so far. Probably not much more left but been adding it in small increments.

Signed up for Fastivus on Sept 30th... looking forward to doing that again.

Also my pair of 255s showed up... Remi approves. Will probably mount them up later this week or this weekend. Trying to avoid changing them before I finish screwing with timing.

Also a few pics from last weekend’s autocross are attached.

I remember that lot being bumpy as hell!

Yeah it's definitely a lot smoother looking from a distance :ROFLMAO:

Been playing with the timing for the last several revisions, screwing some stuff up along the way (changed an axis to extend the tables... forgot to remove an entire row up = super sensitive to knock :ROFLMAO:), but it's feeling really dang good now. Mostly just smoothing out some part throttle timing tables and working on getting the Switchpatch launch control working correctly. I think the APR DSG tune LC settings are interfering with allowing it to work correctly so that'll be going away in favor of an 8 Bit Performance DSG tune.

https://datazap.me/u/derhase/v035-self-tune

Since the timing changes I gotta go back to the WG compensation tables, and am playing around with lambda a bit (trying to make it so the stock logic still works so that it can run a bit leaner for 1 or 2 quick pulls at ~0.810-0.830, but as stuff heats up it begins fattening it up a bit to say 0.795-0.800.

Murdered my checking account the last few days paying for event registrations, events, more tires, and suspension goodies.

Ordered some 215/40R17 Conti ECS since they're on closeout from Tirerack. They're going to go on the ugly free 17x7.5 wheels I just picked up. To be dedicated for rain and possibly super cold weather on track (thinking ahead for December event, and event next month in case of rain).

Also got some Superpro offset LCA bushings on the way to replace the Powerflex ones I just installed. Trying to get more camber up front but without bumping out of STH.

And because they're 20% off right now, I got some Koni Special Active struts on the way. The intent is to run them with the stock springs but I'm entertaining the idea of some very (slight) lowering springs. Less than 1in drop, must be notably firmer than stock. I don't mind the stock ride height, but if going a BIT lower will help things overall, I'm all for it. Perhaps something like factory R front springs and converting the rear to 2.5 dia 8in coil springs w/ adjusters will be a good compromise.

Do you go to VIR often? I really want to get up there this summer. I’m about 3.5 hours away and am a novice. Ive done a few auto events with my old CRX over 10 years ago and 1 event at Darlington with M4TM.
I just want to learn to drive my car better and have legal fun on a track.

I went 4 weekends last year, and it's looking like it'll be 3 this year (not counting the Champcar race I did in a Focus SVT on the North Course).

Me, @Redslaya and @19birel will be there for the TSCC Memorial Day HPDE May 27-28th. Click the link if you're interested in signing up. We have some really good instructors who can get you up to speed safely. 19birel drove something silly like 8hrs to run the February event with us for the first time as a novice and had such a great time he's making the trek again for the weekend in May. @tigeo is also a regular but won't be making this event unfortunately

Thanks for the info. What other events are you doing there this year? I can’t make the last weekend in May.

9/30 - Fastivus at Summit Point on the Shenandoah Circuit (lots of fun, been there once with my Mazda2) - it's also cheap at $160 for a single day:
https://www.trackdaze.com/index.php/fastivus

12/9-12/10 - VIR with TSCC

I'll be doing all the autocrosses with them as well:

Anything track-wise between May and September is a big question mark currently. It doesn't look like any of the VIR events really line up with my schedule, so I'll probably try to fit in another Summit Point event at some point. I'd like to get out to Mid Ohio or Road Atlanta as well, but since I committed to volunteering at all the TSCC autocrosses, I'll probably be ready to take a break over the summer from track stuff.

mid-o early august with 3 balls, let's do it.

https://www.3ballsracing.com/

Tempting - but it's Monday-Tuesday, and I'd need an additional day off to drive back.

However it prompted me to check my schedule and I may have just spontaneously signed up for Sunday HPDE with Gridlife. So I'll be there running advanced HPDE on the 6th. It's essentially the same price as the 3 balls racing event for a single day.

Maybe look into MSS Kits springs if money isn't too much of a concern. I installed mine at 1/2 way in the height adjustment when I installed mine and the car was about 1/4" higher than stock. Lol.
