Degreasing Door Lock

Hi there. I would like to degrease door latches and catches on my Mk7 facelift for cleaning old grease and gunk prior to new grease. I tried with isopropyl alcohol beforehand. But it needs to be agitated with a brush or something which is impossible to do this thoroughly. I am thinking using a brake cleaner because the aerosol cans have propulsion. However, I am not sure whether can be used for such application. I am confused brake cleaner fluid can be drained inside door panel or causing any damage on coating inside the door.

Have anyone tried this method, or what do you suggest to accomplish this?

Is there a lot of grease?
I would limit how much I sprayed anything in. Use Q-Tips to remove as much as one can. Then use micro fiber with alcohol to wipe the rest one can reach. Then light grease.

Yes there is lots of grease applied repeatedly without cleaning. Treated generously :D
Qtip is great idea, wll consider this.
