Default VCDS Coding for 2017 GTI 'Sport' (Power Package/Lighting Package-no fogs)

Hey everyone;

I'm having some issues with my cruise control. Took it to the dealer and they were all 'IS IT CHIPPED?' and I said 'no', (because it's not).

Anyway, they can probably fix it but I want to take one more crack at it just being a coding problem because I don't think there are any broken parts and I'd rather not freak out the dealer anymore.

What I'm looking for is the 100% default, stock coding for a 2017 GTI Sport with the 6MT. I had a backup of all the coding but apparently I failed to save it in a place I could find or I accidently erased it.

Currently I'm getting codes on the engine for 'cruise control switch implausible signal' and on the steering wheel module for open circuit on wiper stalk, cruise control on/off, and turn signal stalk.

This started when I pulled the wheel off to install a leather wrap and forgot it was off and plugged the battery back in. Oops. (So I suppose it's possible I damaged something when I reinstalled it- battery disconnected again- but I think it's more likely that something freaked out in the coding when it couldn't detect the steering wheel.)

Of note- if I change around the coding, and clear codes, and start the car, I CAN engage cruise control - for about 2 minutes. Then it'll go 'AHH SOMETHING IS WRONG' and disable it again.

WELP.

I 'appear' to have fixed the cruise control. It's working consistently on a 15 minute test drive. Only code I'm still throwing is the one for the windshield wiper stalk.

I had to reset the adaptation values for the CAN Gateway for what type of steering wheel- they were listed as 'unknown'.

Then I had to go and change the 'cruise control installed' to 'None' in steering wheel long coding. (What? why?! But ok.)

Jaycob's post is almost 7 years old- so I suspect that you won't get a reply! The reason why he says "I had to go and change the 'cruise control installed' to 'None' in steering wheel long coding" is because setting Byte 0, Bit 5=0 on the 16 module is the correct value if the CC switches are on the multi-function buttons on the steering wheel. The ONLY time that this long-code value set is if CC switch is a separate stalk off the steering column.

Jacob: So, I assume that the long-code string on the 16 module has not changed since you posted the SCAN information above. The long-code looks wrong - my hunch is that the problem is on Byte 00!! But I'm really not sure because cars that are made for the land of the God King are different to those on the rest of this lonely blue planet.

I suggest that you pull-up an old SCAN from your VCDS database and check with the long-code value on the earlier SCAN. If you are not familiar with how to access your early SCANs - look at the files in the following sub-directory on the laptop that you use to run VCDS:
