Dealer's no haggling policy

Just picked up a MK7 pp yesterday and just love it. When at the dealer, their big claim to fame was best pricing first, no haggling

When i spec'ed out the car i wanted, it was 28,750. Dealer came back with the "best price" of 28.500. That's only 1% off of MSRP. So of course, I haggled and got the price down to 27,100.

After the deal was completed, the sales rep said that they don't normally haggle, that it was against the store policy. I told him that if they were not open to price change, well, there are other dealers that would love my money.

It just really irks me when the dealer say "no haggling" like it's in the best interest of the consumer.

Just some food for thought.

They just made it out to sound like "no haggling" was for the customer's benefit. Just blew my mind because lots of people who are not educated will think this is a brilliant idea.

Sneaky dealers.

It would be fine if they offered their best possible price at first, but somehow I doubt they do that.

Have they got much local competition?

Yeah (GM's) Saturn had that brilliant idea too

Look where they ended up

No one wants to pay the sticker price....everyone at least needs to think they're getting a deal/great price (so you feel like you did good). The "no haggle" price isn't the way to do it

I'm in the process of figuring out pricing with my dealer right now and they are being so shady.

I get a deal through my work for $500 off invoice pricing. Should be a pretty simple deal right? Wrong! They can't even give me invoice pricing. They even messed up and gave a me a price OVER MSRP lol.

Seems like some dealers just really don't care about making money.
