Dash lit up like a Christmas tree, all errors under the sun. Turned off car, now it won't start. Turns on, but immediately turns off. Immobilizer?

That's the problem, there's really no way to nail down what's wrong without just throwing money at potential candidates from here. You can't scan for any codes in this state, and when it does start, it doesn't give any pertinent ones.

Car started back up again. With no logical explanation for why it decided to do it. Just left it alone for 3 hours or so and went to check it again ... fired right up.

Thought it could be a loose connection somewhere so went for a drive down a cobblestone street (theres a pretty long one near my place) and nothing happened. Still not ruling that out.
Gonna keep the OEM Cluster in and start exploring other options. My equity in the car is dead even so I think I'm going to jump on that rather than dump a bunch of money into chasing an issue that seemingly nobody, even various VW mechanics, have heard of.

Car acted up for a third time a little over a week ago. Somewhat ironically, on his way to my place so we could swap a few parts and get the car ready to trade in. This time, after a week it wouldn't still start. Was towed out of my garage after a week to a VW dealer.

Car was bought through Carvana with their warranty, so it looks like it's going to be covered, which is good. Initial quote was $750 to replace the gateway module.

So we'll know in a few days if that fixes the issue or not.

Just to close the loop, since it's bad intent etiquette to post a problem then not post the solution.

Dealer replaced the gateway module, car appears to be fixed. Hopefully it's not just one of it's "I'm going to work for a few days" cycles. Car will be at CarMax ASAP.

Hi Guys, new to the forum but not new to this problem of all the lights popping on the dash and the car going into limp mode with also the starting issues..... So I had this problem since I bought this car used here in Dubai, U.A.E. back in March 2022. Its got 141k Kms (around 87k miles) on it and drives and runs like a dream except for this problem. I have replaced the Gateway for a brand new one and programmed it with a reputable German Car VW/Audi & BMW specialist, it was fine for like a day and then it happened again, would start and then stop, similar to Acadia18's issue in his video on page 2 of this thread. Is there something I'm missing cause now I'm so fed up that I'm considering selling this puppy off but I like it too much and don't wanna throw money at it for no reason.... please help!

Oh btw Its a 2015 GTi Autobahn DSG..... US Specs

Maybe a neutrino hit just the right bit in the ECU to corrupt the entire thing 😂
