There are plenty of options, at present I'm still using a previous mobile phone with a dash cam app until such time I see a dashcam of similar quality features and a fair price.

I have a Finevue CR500HD and is the best cam I have had to date. Had a DOD, Blackvue and Akenori previously all good but with the optional polarised filter there is no reflection of the dash on the screen. They are a doddle to fit and mine is plugged into the ciggy lighter running permanent live as the camera has parking mode. Below is a video to show it's quality (view in HD).

Hi Avanti, is there a good app you can recommend using existing/old phone?

I've been using a Mini 0803 (from Amazon) for the last month or so. Highly satisfied, very compact and sits nicely on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror. Ran a usb cable to the rear aux socket in the boot, and hid it as best as I could behind the roof lining and door rubbers. :)

No, I wired mine directly to the rear aux socket using a 5 meter micro usb extension combined with a 2Amp usb adaptor.
I really didn't fancy pulling the glovebox apart to get to the fuse box.
I know JooVuu in the UK is supplying a free wiring kit with certain models.
