So car was dropped off to the dealer this morning, few minor things I wanted them to look at finally piled up to be worth dropping off lol.

Frequently, when turning on the car, I get "Error Park Distance Control" and "Error Rear Traffic Alert" errors. Turning car off and on clears them. Said for the Park Distance Control error, there was a software update they did. Rear Traffic Control, they had to order a rear sensor, which should be in at the end of the month.

I get the common MK8 "Error Selector Level" often, and every once in a while (hasn't happened in like a month), when shifting out of Park, it "clunks" and gives "Error Transmission" and a Park Lock\Pawl Actuator Circuit Open code. Again, turning car off and on clears it. They ordered a new shifter assembly, but is out of stock in the US, so no ETA on that. Both those covered under warranty.

Twice, I've gone into a limp mode, and gives a P102A00 Torque Limitation Due To Coolant Temperature error. No actual EPC. Clear it, it's fine. While I know it's not fully accurate, coolant gauge still shows the default 194F. Said that even though I had the code, because the code has been cleared and isn't stored on the car, there isn't anything they could do. Said if it happened again, don't clear the code and bring it back.

They did try selling me a $600 rear diff service, I politely declined 🤣

Got the car back. Surprise, surprise, the software update did nothing. Service advisor said when he was pulling it out, error popped up still. They're going to replace the sensors at the end of the month when they come in, see if that fixes it, and go from there. Have to do one thing at a time.

Asked him if I bought a shifter mechanism out of pocket from a third party, since they can't get any and have no ETA, if they could just use that. Said as long as it was new, OEM, and the part number is the same, that'd be fine. So I might do that, see a few places online that say it's in stock for ~$125. I'm impatient and would rather pay $125 and get it fixed now vs. waiting an undisclosed amount of time.

Said the tech said he's only seen my "Torque limited by coolant temperature" error once before, on a Tiguan, and it ended up being the thermostat. But still, even though I had the code, they need it stored in the car before they can act.

Wow like a rear diff service would help your issue lmao

i see absolutely no correlation between the thermostat (i.e. coolant temp) and the transmission

this wouldn't have been a problem with a manual, johnny

No, they're all separate things. The rear diff service was just "The rear diff should be serviced every 60k km which is 37k miles so you're overdue wanna pay us $600 to do it while it's here?"

So, car is going back to the dealer on 2/6.

They got the rear camera in. I don't have a part number, but that's what they're calling it. But I don't think it's the actual "rear camera" like in the logo. But we'll see. That should address some annoying, inconsequential errors.

They also got the shifter assembly in. I bought one for $140 from a different dealer since they told me there was no ETA, so I can return that. That should fix the shifter issues.

I haven't gotten limp mode\"torque limited due to coolant temp" error, so that's still outstanding. JB4 hasn't gone back on yet (since I knew it would be going back), so no idea still if it's related to that or not. Might leave it off for another month, see if I get the error. Put it back on at that point, and see if I then get the error.

That leaves the Magna torque vectoring rear axle service, which VW calls for the fluid in the left and right clutch packs to be changed every 40,000 miles or 4 years. They quoted me $577 out the door for that service. Talked to the service advisor, got him to knock $140 off that, so said "best price" (which I doubt is truly the best price) was $460 all in, out the door. Since I'm going to getting the $140 from the shifter I already spent, and buying the mats to do it myself would be $120, boy math says it only will cost an extra $180 to have the dealer do it, vs. the an extra $457. Since 1) I'm lazy, 2) It's cold in the garage, 3) I'm having issues with my "good" shoulder, I just said fuck it, do it. So that'll get done at the same time.

All that leaves (hopefully) is the P102A00 error. If it pops back up, I'll get that addressed at that time.
