Again, the difference is the company having parts built to their specs are QC'ing the parts.

Reread scrllocks post again slowly. He stated what I've been trying to say much clearer and concisely.

The certification of any kind of industry in a made up associations non binding standards shouldn't give anyone a sense of security, whether it's spinach or brake calipers.

Acadia is 100% being a dumbass risking his life and car over $300.

If he was smart, he'd reinstall the OEM brakes and throw the knockoffs in the garbage. Knockoff calipers can and do fail. Same with knock off wheels, etc...

The factory isn't what makes a part good or bad. It's the manufacturer specs and qc that are important. Going "straight to the source" means they can deviate from those specs in materials and tolerances and leave you with a part that will fail.

If nothing else, I hope the voices of reason in this thread keep others from buying garbage parts.
What baffles me is the macan calipers are already cheap as fuck, I don't know why anyone would pick brakes as the thing they try to minimize cost on.

And this is me being a dick, but to make them look like R calipers, on R-sized rotors? It's a cosmetic mod that doesn't look different!

Yep. The only reason I did the Macans was more choice in track pads and easier to swap pads at the track.

You're conflating oem specs with knock off individual parts.

This isn't China bad. This is no OEM specs or QC is bad, no matter where the factory is.

You're intentionally missing the point.

The country of origin isn't the issue. It's the fact it's a knock off part made to unknown specs and QC.
This isn't a company pretending to be making brembo brakes in China. This is a company making OE spec replacement parts.

When you're ordering a strut mount off FCP euro or rockauto do you only buy "geniune VW parts" or do you consider buying the Sachs part because they're the OEM? Do you then look at Lemforder and say they're fake Sachs if you buy those your struts will go through your hood! or do you understand that Lemforder is an OE manufacturer and not a knock off part?

Explain to me how this is different. Because you recognize the Lemforder name?

This is an OE manufacturer making parts for the Chinese market. If they called themselves Hans Gruber Glicken-German Co instead of Huayang Machinery Co would that make it better?

you buy Lemforder or Sachs because they're OE. that means it's made to OE spec, and QC'd/binned accordingly. You don't buy Vaico because it's not OE and can't be trusted to be up to spec. and these things are notoriously noisy if not manufactured well. but hey, it's cheap, and Vaico gave themself a stamp saying they're great, so why not?

But how do you know Lemforder or Sachs are truly made to OE spec? Because they have a little blue icon on a webpage?
