Are the Mk8 JB4's different?

I've seen used ones for 150-200

But muh warranty!

Idk. I was perfectly fine with the JB4 in my 7.5. If it wasn't a case of going "Holy fuck. $600 for a gesi downpipe? I'd be stupid not to!", I don't think I would have flash tuned it. I made it a year with the JB4 🤷‍♂️
Warranty? live life on the edge!

JB4s are great though, and I guess you don't have the party pooper speed limiter at 127 to contend with either. Imma still say just get a flash tune though 😅

Already some minor trouble in paradise. Seems pretty common, but getting the intermittent "Error: Selector lever. You can continue driving. Please service vehicle." It comes and goes. Common on everything from the 7 and up. The lower trims that don't have kessy had a recall for it a few years ago.

I have my state inspections done at the dealer, and hopefully can have them look at it then. Chances are, unless the error is actively up when I get that done (have to wait for my registration first), I'll get the "Hurr durr, no active error!" response since my local dealer kinda sucks. Even if the dtc is saved in the background. While I could fight the dealer, or bring it to the dealer where I bought it from (an hour away), the part, 5H0-713-059-R is only $120, and doesn't seem that bad to replace. I'd probably just buy the part myself and swap it instead of wasting hours going to the dealer. Value my time and convenience more than that.

I haven't asked George to get an official answer. But since the EA888.3 and EA888.4 are different engines, I'm just assuming they are. But yeah. Used MK7/7.5 Group 1/2 JB4s are plentiful and cheap. Haven't seen any used Group 17 ones for the MK8 used.

I can count the amount of times I've gone above 127mph in my MQBs on one hand 🤣

I don't need any hands for my count 🤷‍♂️.

I've done a small handful of 60 - 130 pulls. My lamest fun fact is the fastest any of my MQBs have gone, which was my GTI when it had the Vortex on it, was 145mph...

...except, I wasn't even the one driving.

Decided to fire off the email and ask. George responded promptly. Yep, circuit board and wiring harness are different, so not compatible.

I don't know if it was this thread or a different one where wire snakes and tail light harnesses came up, but how hard is it really to install the harnesses?

Well now it makes sense how you happily switched from a Vortex GTI to a stock turbo r haha. A cheeky 145 pull is always a good time 😅

On the MK7/7.5, not hard. I could do it in my sleep. Some tabs on the grommets will be broken, but still get done 🤣

I watched a video on the ones for the MK8 last night, and jesus fuck.

Just to give you an idea. This is the MK8 harness...

Per usual the shopDAP video makes it seem hard and time consuming. Any resources you'd recommend?
