I ran the gas tank low enough to get my fuel light to come on for the first time. Didn't even break 250 miles on this tank though. I ended up with 247 miles and then put in 12.5 gallons. Puts me at about 19.7mpg around town. I guess that's better than what I was expecting. That's with 100% city driving.
wow that kinda sucks haha

I agree with you, but haggling in person can't be underestimated. Also laying eyes on the car because pics lie.
I have kids, this deal has been in the works since the fall, just couldn't get away until now.

Yup, it's worse than I thought it'd be before I bought it. It did pretty good on the highway when I was driving down from NJ. I didn't think its gas mileage was bad until I got into town. It's really thirsty in the city. Now that I've driven a few tanks in the city almost 20 mpg is better than I expected, it feels worse than that.

Is it that much worse than your R was?

I'm pretty sure the R could get me at least 300 miles per tank, and that was with me driving however I wanted. I never even really thought about how much fuel my VWs burned as it always good enough and never bothered me. I'm gonna track my next tank on the RS3, but this time it's going to be all sport mode and manual shifting. I'm curious to see what a conservative tank is vs one that's a little more aggressive.

I think the big thing that really makes it feel like it's burning a lot of gas is when you fill up a tank the car tells you you have a 410-420 mile range....Then I try really hard to take a tank of gas as far as I can and it comes out to 247 miles with the gas light on. That's not far from half of what it says my initial range is. There's nothing I can do to remove the displayed range, and it's pretty obvious the range decreases about twice as fast as it should. I'll get in my car with a 300 mile range, drive the 4 miles home, and now my range is 290 miles. If the displayed range was accurate I think I wouldn't feel like it was such a gas guzzler. Maybe I should see what resetting the long term memory does for me. Maybe the 1300 mile drive on the highway to get it home has given me an average that isn't realistic and it's showing me an inflated range because of it.

Well listen. I really don't want to, but since you gave me the bro deal on Monica...

I have a pretty legit and pristine, blank slate 2019 R DSG. Only 27k miles. You'd be twisting my arm, but I'd be willing to do a straight swap with you.

Things I find funny - a subsidiary of Anhauser-Busch called Goose Island has released an "Anti Woke" beer called "Conservative Dad's Ultra Right" that's your typical 4% light beer(it's re-canned Bud Light) in a 12oz can and they're selling them for $19.99 plus shipping for a sixer online lmao.

Gotta love it.

What's the range you're searching on there? I think I did a 500 mile range when I searched Cars.com for my GTI, lucky me it was only a ~7 hour drive to Ohio to get it, which I felt was tolerable.

For that matter as an open question, how far would y'all travel for a car? I think if the drive is 8 hours or under (with some short stops for food) I'd be game, if it's a car I want at a reasonable price, particularly if it's in the configuration I want. I'm not too big on flying and I really prefer driving for the sightseeing, but if it's like a 10-12 hour drive for something I can confidently fly out and drive back, I'd be up for it. Definitely not alone though, after a certain point the joy of driving alone kind of drops off.

Depends on the car but if it was more then 12+ hours away I’d want to fly out and drive it home, but I hate flying so I’d probably just pay to ship it.

My GTI happen to be in the state and I know I over paid a bit since Carmax doesn’t negotiate but it was low mileage (under 30k), 1 owner and a manual so I jumped on it.
