Dark coffee tends to have lower caffeine content, that's why breakfast blends are all lighter roasts.

I need one of those coffee makers with a dedicated water line so I don't forget to put water in it and wind up with a hot empty carafe and warm dry grounds in the morning

I can assure you Lavazza Intenso has ridiculous amounts of caffeine. It gives me heart palpitations. I had to switch to Classico.
