Shouldn't be necessary. I've never had to disconnect the fuel line to get off the manifold.

Just push it out of the way with a 2x4

More flexibility. You can fit the other one into tighter places and the handles and your hand stay up out of the way. I can reach a lot of clamps from the top of the engine by just fishing that down to the clamp I want.
