Genuine question: why would you allow Edge but not Chrome? They're both Chromium.

I miss Opera.
We have GPOs and whatnot that mandate particular homepages, bookmarks, etc. on Edge. Part of keeping everything standardized. I'm sure there are other things behind the scenes as well, but I don't work in that arm of our IT division.

Opera has turned to hot garbage, I remember back in like 2005-2006 it was cool because it did SO MUCH but even then I was more of a Firefox fan. Especially now with Chromium neutering adblockers, and the Mozilla foundation doing the best they can to keep the internet free and open.

Yes, in addition, there is the general attempt to reduce apps that need to be supported.

If you allow chrome, then somebody wants firefox, Opera, DuckDuckGo and a zillion others - that then turns into a security and support nightmare.

But if an internal employee can zip and send a zipped file, then there is no excuse for IT to not know how to open it.

Unless, of course, that employee was forwarding a zipped file they received - which should mean that IT shouldn't try to open it on a user's machine.

This is how data breaches happen.

Also Mrs Mud liked my idea for home made garden hose guides using old sprinklers and copper pipe

What're you thinking on this one?

==

Went for a decent run after work and then GF suggested going out for margs last night. Had a good time, ate too much. Somehow managed to get a mosquito bite on my foot/ankle, right where it's gonna get itched by my shoes when I walk, so that's fun.
