He was in his mid 30's, and the car was prepped for tuner 1 I believe. All I know is that he was running 110 octane, a big cam and "greasy Michelin Cup 2's".

No white New Balances were scuffed during the course of this session!

I had a blast and didn't care what his excuses were, I was just there to have fun with my son. Mission accomplished!

It is genuinely funny that he felt the need to make excuses. I've gotten some exposure to people who are national-level fast, and they're some cool folks who are genuinely just enjoying racing. Sounds like you encountered a wiener.

Glad you got to have fun. I'd love to try trackcross, though I don't know that I have the consumables budget for TNiA. Love to hear some more about your experience overall though.

Not just any aluminum tape.......Casey's wrappers and painters tape. Made over 10 second difference and actually let me work on driver mod for the second track day. I went from frustrated on day 1, to absolutely giddy on day 2. This car is a beast on track.

It was fast enough that I chased down a C5 Z06 and ended up beating his best time by about a second. He found me as soon as we hit impound and let me know that he had plenty of reasons why he couldn't shake me from his mirrors.

I still can't understand how forward assist reactivated.

How did you deactivate it the first session? I was playing with it yesterday on the street and it stays off, I know not the same thing.

I pushed the button on the end of the left stalk, and unchecked all the assists. None have come back on, but it was only an hour of driving in traffic

I don't know either. All I know is that everything was turned off through the left stalk and also through the ESC off shortcut that I have on the infotainment screen. It only reactivated when the huge red warning popped up on the dash for front collision alert. I was just happy I got three sessions without any electronic intervention so that I could have the ability to push the car everywhere on track.

I thought he was going to start chewing me out for following so closely, since he popped out of his car while I was checking tire pressures as soon as he hit the impound.

He started the conversation by saying he was surprised that I could keep up with him on the straights. That's when I let him know that a stage 3 GTI isn't exactly a slow car. Overall, I think his excuses were more of an apology for slowing me down even though he was gridded in front of me, due to me finally have a car that wasn't fighting me with electronic intervention.

I will make sure to post something with a full write up soon.

learning/accepting that I'm not good at many things has helped me out a lot.
The older I get and the more I learn, only shows me how little I actually know. It took a bit of wisdom to even get to the point where I learned to accept that I'll probably never be close to perfect, at anything I do.

There's some lawyers trying to get a settlement going due to the automatic emergency braking being faulty. I got two letters about it yesterday, one for my R and one for the RS3. I've never had an issue with it though.

Same, though I'm still waiting on the recall fix for the ignition and the evap canister. Honestly I'm not even sure the base models have automatic emergency braking, though I know once I was curious about if I had adaptive cruise control as I had never encountered it before, and cruise would allow for getting far too close for my comfort and so I went with the assumption it was not present.

Assuming it's an apology is probably the easier way to live -- never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity, or something along those lines. I tend to make jokes (a lot) about how slow I am, how if I could just become a driving god overnight maybe I wouldn't be so sloppy, etc. All intended in good fun and self-burns, and trying to imply a sense of humor.

Track day> On track it isn't the fastest car. I've seen guys out there in screaming fast cars that can't get out of their own way. I've seen absolute pieces of crap being driver so well it is amazing to see the speed achieved. o_O

The older I get the faster I was....

Did you see my yesterday post on how to disable stability control?

I had it trigger a few times in left turning roads, picking up mail boxes, but that was after I lowered the car, so that's 100% on me. 🤷‍♂️

Usually when mine goes off its because I'm flying towards some guy taking a U-turn or a right turn where there's no turn lane, and the people turning are doing one of those things where they just about come to a complete stop before they begin the turn. It hasn't hit the brakes for me yet, but I get yelled at.

Any chance you'd be willing to lend the pad spreader tool please? Might need it for brake install I'm doing.
