I started a new job in acquisitions last month, and it’s fucking strange managing that many digits of other people’s money.

On Wednesday I was reviewing a file to authorize the contractor’s employee access to our systems. I noticed the employee gave an email of “the[cia]sucks@gmail.com” and laughed. Sent a message to the contractor’s security liaison saying “hey, I saw this and chuckled, think we can have them give a different email address?”

Yesterday the CEO sent an email to my boss apologizing for the unprofessional email and it would not happen again.

Boss forwarded me the email saying “when the contract has that many digits left of the decimal, they don’t play games.”

A few minutes later the security liaison sent me a Teams message saying. “Sorry about that, his new email is unemployed@dipshit.edu”.

I think the “.edu” was a nice touch.

If you want the poor to have enough money to live and have basic needs, pay them more, but apparently that's communism and government redistributing tax money to them is capitalism in our broken system.

Pay them more as in create better opportunities for them to make it out, not handouts that disincentivize growth (welfare).
Instead of the government trying to intervene and attain equality of outcome, they should focus more on making sure everyone has equal opportunities (can get a good education and can apply to the same jobs).
Root cause solutions (equal opportunity) > Band aid solutions (redistribution of wealth)

I'll guarantee you this much though, once he gets past the shock of being fired for doing something that stupid, it's very unlikely he'll do something that stupid again. It's a learning experience. And if he doesn't learn that lesson, all the better they dropped him.

I don't give out my Gmail because it's cringe to the max from when I was an edgy/nerdy teenager. Nothing offensive but just not fitting for a grown-up. I still have it, but I underestimated how widespread Google accounts would be. Wish I could change it, but now I get to flex with my full name as an email.

At the end of the day, there are only 3 choices.

1. Pay people enough to have shelter, Healthcare, transportation, etc...
2. Subsidize low pay with tax money.
3. Fuck the poor, let them suffer.

We're currently doing #2. About half the country want #1, but you can't have billionaires and actually do this. The other half of the country wants #3, you know, the ones that love Jesus.

#2 is the compromise we've arrived at.
